Hey rebekah, I have been using Voice Memo an app that comes on the iPhone. I love it, though I am not sure what your requirements are. Voice Memo allows you to record sounds, it allows you to edit the file on the iPhone. It has basic functionality but it does the job well specially when you use the ear buds. I use it to time my shop assignment so if I need to know how long it took for the waitress to bring me the food from the time I paid for the food, simply run the voice file, and listen to the cues and it will give you the times.
