PayPal Problems

I have been a PayPal subscriber for years. Lately, however, it seems they go out of their way to generate non-issues to set limitations on an account. They want additional information on "government issued photo ID", a copy of a social social security card and on and on and on. It has gotten to be such a chore to deal with them that I no longer accept assignments requireing the use of PayPal for payment. Has anyone else had this problem, or is it just me?

I don't know what the sequence of events may have been to lead you to that situation, but I have experienced no issues with them in relation to mystery shopping. I understand that with eBay transactions there have been some issues for some folks. Because of the nature and extent to which they offer protections to eBay buyers, I can understand that there could readily be some conflicts. They have certainly come to bat for me when I made a purchase that was NOT what it was purported to be.

I find it fascinating that to open a bank account in the US one needs to provide positive identification under the requirements of the Patriot Act yet I have never been asked for such by PayPal. I was fascinated within the past month to find a note in my PO Box that even the Post Office is now required to have two forms of ID from box renters. So after 11 years of having the same box, I was trotting in with my passport and driver's license to prove who I was.
Perhaps having your paypal account linked to a bank account that DOES require proof of ID fulfills that particular requirement....

I have never had any problem with paypal, but understand that others have because they engaged in multiple forms of business with the account.

I have one account for MSing and another account as an online merchant, which seems to avoid problems.
Wes,
Are you sure you did not get a phising email, purporting to be from Paypal?

That is quite common.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
My single account was set up in pre-shopping days for minor eBay buying and selling. Originally, it was linked to one credit card and one email address. Because some MSCs want PayPal email to match shopper email, I added my shopping email to the account. I've also added two no-frills checking accounts. The checking accounts were created in order to shop the associated banks on a regular basis.

I've had no problems whatsoever with PayPal, ever. I'm not a heavy user, though, and only transfer funds to banks a couple of times a month. I'd like to know if there are transactions that trigger PayPal problems, so I can avoid them if possible.
