Telephone (Remote) Mystery shopping?

Hi there, I'm a new member. I'm interested in getting into the mystery shopping gig, but I don't have a car right now and was hoping to get into a remote position where I can do everything over the phone. I'm in the San Diego area if that helps.

I've read a lot about scams and know a few things to avoid, but what companies are legit? Which ones pay consistently? Do you have to pay out of pocket on your shop and they reimburse you, or are there calls you can make where you can opt out of the actual purchase? For those that do it, how many calls on average would you say you make, and what's your rate? Is it worth your time?

Thanks in advance for your help.

if you have a credit card and are willing to do route shopping you may consider renting a car to shop. I don't do much phone shopping but they are a lot just dont pay much a few bucks here and there.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
I have a CC, it's the driver's license I'm still working on. I moved to San Diego from a really small town where I could hoof it everywhere, and recently have been having trouble finding work I can get to that's not terrible pay for a terrible job and a "flexible" schedule with bachelor's degree requirements. Hoping to find something remote to try and make ends meet while I keep looking and work towards getting my license here.
I just saw on Second To None's website they have phone shops in my part of the country, but I live in the NE US so they might not show on your side. But they might have something over there, who knows.
I come across phone shops here and there with a variety of mystery shops. Also some texting, and e-mailing shops. Best Mark is one company that has them, Bare International has had some. Best thing is sign up with companies and check job boards.
Scheduling and editing is sometimes done from home. Again signing up with all the companies is the best way to come discover what they have.
If you can walk and have banks nearby, there's money to be made. If you are exclusively looking for phone shops, I've done several with Reality Check, BestMark, Marketforce, Confidential Consumer and Intellishop.

Ath Power, Bare International, Pinnacle Financial Strategies, Kinesis and RBG are a few that I've do bank shops for. RBG and Kinesis has phone bank shops in addition to branch shops.

That's a great question, blumchen! When you go to your Job Board, you will want to use the drop-down menu next to "Project type." In this menu, select, "Phone." You will then probably want to expand your radius out to 999 mi. This will allow you to see the most phone shops available. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at shoppers@shoppersview.com or give us a call at 800-264-5677. Thanks, and happy shopping!
