I did one of these shops, one time, about a year ago. The photo I took was crystal clear, and showed the entire pizza. After I submitted the shop, the editor came back to me to request another picture, saying my original picture wasn't acceptable (I can't remember exactly why). I knew that my picture was very good, and after this request, I could not find anything wrong with it. Since I did not have any additional, better photos (I included the best one initially), I just sent them the same one again. They accepted it and paid me for the shop. Unfortunately, since that incident, I don't take these shops anymore. I'm not comfortable with them criticizing a great picture, so there's no guarantee that my next shop will be accepted.

That's exactly how I feel... They accepted the ones I gave when they asked for more, but it's too risky for me to do more shops when I'm not a huge fan of their pizza anyway...
Oh my word. I wish I was MSing tonight. I used to love Papa John's but this is the last time I order from this location. I think I've given them enough chances. Not only did it not have the garlic sauce, it was literally the most disgusting pizza I've ever eaten. I've had $1 frozen pizzas taste better. Bleh.

Thank you for letting me vent grinning smiley
Totino's, or even Value Time or Food Club, LOL. Cardboard with sauce and cheese can be doctored up to taste as good as PJs, hahaha.
It seriously made me think of Totino's and made me wish for that! I am not looking forward to eating the rest tomorrow, but maybe I can figure something out to make it taste better.
Sorry, but PJ's is always the most disgusting pizza I've never eaten, LOL!

I wonder if its the locations. or maybe they did something. I used to *love* it back in the day. But I lived 2000 miles from where I do now.
I don't like their pizza or their politics. Even if that wasn't the case, I've read enough on here about the "picky pictures" that I wouldn't touch the shop with a 50 ft pole.

I took a bite and it was one too many.

I don't like PJ's. I did them during the years when my son was still at home. Now, my husband likes them. So, he does them when the price is right. There are two MSCs that I know are doing these, currently. My husband had a shop rejected due to photos. One MSC's guidelines state to not crop photos with your phone, as that causes problems down the line which may result in rejection. At least we found out why his shop was rejected, thanks to the one MSC.
Mod note: Post removed as it breached the Forum guideline which states, "Do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies". Additionally, it is usually an ICA violation to name both the MSC and client.
I got my weekly text from Papa John's today.

"Happy FriYAY! Get ANY Pan pizza up to 5-toppings or Specialty for $10. Discount Code: PANP10 thru 11/19."

I find it funny you can't use an online coupon when ordering via phone.

I've also seen promos offering 3,4 or 5 topping pizzas for a certain price. I'd order the required 2 topping pizza and get charged the full regular price. If I could have ordered one more topping I'd have paid about half of what I did for the 2 topping pizza. This just doesn't make sense to me.

And I don't mind the pizza, it's not the best I've had but it's certainly not the worst.
I agree, wrosie, it's not the best but not the worst pizza. I've taken a few of these shops because my husband likes the pizza. I've never had a shop rejected but one time they did ask for additional photos because they thought I had ordered a third topping (I didn't). The clumps of sauce kind of looked like tomatoes so they asked if I had ordered tomatoes in addition to the two toppings I actually ordered... Kind of silly since I had to submit my receipt as well which verified the toppings I ordered.
I've come to the conclusion that there's something wrong with their website. It's wonky. I've uploaded photos that were clear on my end to the online portal and submitted. An editor emails me and tells me the photos are blurry, I sent the editor same photo via email and it's accepted.

I no longer do PJ shops tho, after one shop was rejected. I am admittedly a pizza snob and their pizza is terrible. Overpriced and not worth the risk of it being rejected.
I only shopped when it was with the defunct company. I always took pictures that were with a 5 MP which was higher resolution that their minimum. I could then review the picture on their site.

Is it possible the pictures are compressed, thereby loosing pixels, when you upload them to the new MSC's report?
Something to keep note of. They are not just looking for clarity, but you need to watch your shadows. When I do these, I also take lots of photos. This is because I have noticed shadows. or blur, on review that I did not see in the viewfinder. We are all human, and sometimes the unsteady hand or angle can be our enemy.
Or washed out pictures. I took one outside using sunlight and it was rejected because it was too washed out. This was for the old MSC.
So far I've had one 9 rating and the rest 10 ratings for PJs, but I haven't been paid yet (because I'm so new) and now I'm worried. I definitely can't afford to not get paid! But my real question is that I don't quite understand who is doing the outing and how. Can someone please clarify? Thanks in advance!

It's ultimately up to the client (in this case, Papa Johns) if the pictures are acceptable to them.
Is there a rough timeframe for how long before you find out whether the photos are acceptable?

Also, can anyone advise how they're getting "outed" (it was mentioned many times upthread) and by whom?
Sooo, I just did a Papa John's shop, and I am not sure how I did this, but I wrote the wrong shop ID on the box!! I guess I was looking at my previous shop ID on accident. The store ID is correct. Unfortunately, I already disturbed the pizza! I e-mailed the scheduler but haven't heard a response. Has anyone done this before? I must have been pretty tired after work to make such a silly mistake! I am wondering if they will still accept the shop. Sad because they are offering a nice bonus too.
I did the same thing a week ago, BUT I caught it before I uploaded. And I know exactly how it happened -- the job numbers on the computer screen are so close together it's easy to look at the wrong one. But I was lucky that I caught it before I uploaded. So I re-wrote the number on white paper, cut it out, and pasted it over the number I'd already written on both the box and the receipt page. As far as I know it's been accepted. But don't feel bad -- I'm making mistakes all over the place and just trying to learn from each one and move on.
I thought that I could print out the pictures, scratch out the old number, and put the correct one in, but my writing may look different on each picture. I assume that it would look suspicious that way, but since I already touched the pizza I can't just retake the pictures.
