flaking on a shop

I do the In and Out shops a lot. The schedulers are awesome and they are pretty straight forward, but the pay is pretty bad. I am slammed with other work stuff that takes way over priority than a $4 pay shop. I hate flaking, but sometimes it has to be done. I went and had the burger and all, but seriously, when I am stressing over everything else that needs to be done right now with work, I had to flake. I know, I never should have taken it, but work suddenly got crazy this week. Does this happen to others out there that work other jobs outside of MS?

I am sure that it does. But, the professional thing to do is to contact the scheduler and ask to reschedule, adding something like, "Of course, I will understand if your constraints mean that you will have to find another shopper instead of rescheduling for me. Thank you for your help and support."

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I agree with walesmaven and ceasesmith. Always offer to reschedule! It sounds like you did the shop, and you just needed more time to fill out the report. It's possible that you could have arranged an extension. Many times, extensions and rescheduling (if not a habit) will not lower your shopper grade/standing with a company. However, flakes will always do so!

I most certainly does! It also happens to full time shoppers. Just make it up to them, reschedule, and don't flake on the next one.

I make it very clear on this forum that I only work for cash. In-N-Out is a shop, the only shop, I would do for reimbursement only!

In every job I have had, the policy was no call+no show = no job. It should be the same for mystery shopping. Unless you are dead or unconscious, there is probably no excuse for no call no show.
Just think of it this way. You call a service person to come over to give you an estimate for some thing that needed repairs. You set an appointment for the date and time. You patiently wait for the person to show up. The person never showed up or gave you a courtesy call. You wasted all that time waiting for that person to show up. You think to yourself that you will never consider that person for any jobs that you might have in the future because that person was unprofessional. MSing is the same thing.
The only time I did not do mystery shopping was when i was in a car accident and broke my ribs. That being said, I did one when I had pneumonia which was a mistake.
I love that company and would do all I can to have my burger, however, if not possible, contact Jeff and tell him so he can re-schedule, why wouldn't you have done that before writing in, they have plenty of shoppers and if given enough time are able to re-schedule......

Agreed. Just communicate.
