Alternatives to excel?

I started mystery shopping in June, and have quickly realized how lucrative it can be. I have been signing up for more companies and getting more assignments.

I realize that I need to record everything, and I am very excel savvy, however my laptop does not have it. I'm not really keen on paying for Microsoft Office, so are there any other non-web based spreadsheet programs that are similar to Excel, or maybe someone know where I can buy it less than what it normally costs?

Thanks in advance!

There is free software out there. I am not sure how good the macros are. Did you try a Google search?

Briefly, but quickly became frustrated because they didn't seem worth while. I was hoping someone would have experience with a good one (if there is one out there). I am willing to purchase it if need be.
You might want to download Apache's OpenOffice. It is a free alternative for Office's productivity tools.

To me there is no substitute, but that might very well be because I used Excel for close to 15 years in a business environment and it's intuitive to me where others aren't. I pay like $10 a month or something for it and it's more than worth it.

I didn't realize you could do that. I would be more than happy to do that. Do you know if I could just buy Excel in full without all of the other office products?
I'm an Excel geek, but have switched to LibreCalc, part of LibreOffice. See [OpenOffice.org].

It's similar, and once you get used to the differences, just as functional. Best of all, it's free. There are other programs within the Office, all for free. They read Microsoft's products and you can save in .xls (or .ods, their extension).

That sounds great. I will definitely try it out before committing to purchasing Excel. Trying to keep my costs down as I get this started. Thanks!

I've found Google Sheets to be really helpful since you can view it and update it from different sources. I downloaded and use the app on my phone while also using the website on my laptop. It's another free option.

Microsoft Office 2016 Professional for $9.95. Not a monthly rate. Just $9.95. School edu emails needed or some work emails part of this program. I used my school email from years ago and got this deal.

That's what I use too.
I've downloaded and used LibreOffice. Their version of excel (called calc) is extremely similar.
