The definition of "arrears" is money that is owed and should have been paid earlier. In over ten years I can't remember a time that Marketforce was in arrears. If you are hoping for an MSC that pays ahead of time, generally only the scam ones do that.....and the check ain't good!
In the the ic contract, it specifically says the money is paid in arrears. As in with a regular company, sometimes you have to work a week in the hole before you start getting paid.

What I AM hoping for is [if the pay schedule is the 5th and the 20th] to be paid for the work that I doing now on the 20th, instead of on the 5th.

Almost all MSCs pay in arrears. Except in very unusual circumstances, mystery shoppers are paid after they complete the assignments and the company determines if the reports are acceptable. The two companies you named both pay faster than most. You are an independent contractor rather than an employee when you work with MSCs. They will receive and edit your reports and if the reports are accepted, they get put in line for payment/reimbursement. If the assignment is not done correctly and it is not accepted, you won't be paid. The work you do for TrendSourse between the 5th and about the 18th is usually paid on the 20th. Work done from about the 19th-3rd or 4th is usually paid on the 5th.
I posed the question because I see some places that pay 30, sometimes 60 days out. Id rather not deal with those companies.

I have done a few shops for Trendsource this week and want to be sure im getting paid out on the the 20th since they have been approved already. That makes a big difference in shops where I have to pay upfront, then be reimbursed.

Thank you
You may want to start doing jobs where you do not have to make a purchase but the fee is paid less quickly. Things like bank shops would be a good place to start.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Im still checking out the forum trying to find good MSC to sign up with. I currently work from home as an IC and have been shopping to get out of the house. :-)

Could you recommend a few places to start?
Keep in mind faster pay often has the trade off of lower pay. I would rather wait 30 days for $50 than get $5 in a week.

I can easily do 4/5 15.00 jobs in a day and make $60 in a couple hours working within 3 miles of my home no travel time or gas which is 2.89 gallon. and sitting on L.A. freeways waiting hours. Waiting for bonus here is playing the waiting game money in hand makes me happy. I refuse to wait more than 6 weeks to get paid especially for reimbursement. Got spoiled with my company that pays me twice a month.

Work performed from the first to the fifteenth is paid on the twentieth. Work performed from the sixteenth to the end of the month is paid on the fifth of the following month.
I've gotten it earlier say the 5th is on a Sunday. i've been paid the previous Friday instead of them waiting until Monday.

I do several stops for trendsource and my experience with them has been that since they are on the west coast they don't cut checks until around 3 Pacific time and so if you do a shop on the 20th well before that cut off and it is verified well before that cut off you will be paid more than likely on the 20th otherwise you have to wait till the 5th.
Trendsource is a reliable payer. So are Ipsos, Kinesis, Confero, Maritz, Merc Surveys, A Closer Look, SeeLevel X, and Alta. There are many more that will pay on time and without having to chase payment, but those are a good start.

Do a search on "chase payment" to find companies that often need to be "asked" to pay their shoppers.

The Source doesn't pay by checks, direct deposit only. I get paid the day before money is due have never waited until the 20th, when it's due on the fifth.
