How much did you earn last month?

I was curious about how much one can earn from mystery shopping. I know it depends on many factors but would anyone like to share what they earned last month?

I just restarted last month and so far I have earned over $150.00 that have paid so far.

The shoppers who earn th most are the least likely to discuss what they earn. However, there are several forum members who make very good, full time livings doing MS. They typically are also traveling a good deal, but not always. Even less dedicated part time shoppers often early $1000 per month and up. But, it takes time and effort to establish yourself before you will even see the better paid shops for many MSCs.

I would suggest instead you might give us a location, willingness to travel, and how much you need to make and some knowledgeable people could probably tell you if it was realistic or not.

OP, if you are trying to figure out how much you can make for yourself, asking others what they make won't help. To guesstimate your own potential income, go to the job boards of the MSCs you are signed up. Note which shops you qualify for and how much they pay. Assuming you got every shop you applied for, what is the total? That puts you in the ballpark. If it's not enough money, sign up with more MSCs and find higher paying shops, but of course, there will be more competition for those, so as a newbie you are less likely to get them.

How many shoppers are in your area? If there aren't many, then your services might come with a premium. If there are a lot of shoppers, then bonuses will be scarce. @MountainCacher88 gave a very detailed post [www.mysteryshopforum.com], but her situation/geographic region is unique. Plus, she went the extra mile and cultivated relationships with schedulers.

Take a look at what others said in previous posts. Search for how much money for All Dates and several threads will show up. Do another search for 1,000 and All Dates see how many folks earn $1,000+ per month. This is truly one of those businesses where you get out if what you put into it.

Most occupations' wage ranges are listed in books that are located at the library, at student services at high schools, community colleges and universities. There are no such listings for mystery shopping. The department of labor, bureau of labor stats gathers and reports the stats and now publish them on their website. These are published based on full time work as an employee. I would think the MSPA would publish some stats but they are lazy or poor.

I would say part-time anywhere from $50 a month to $1,000. Full-time, who knows. I make around $2,500 part-time, very part-time.

To create stats the MSPA would need access to each IC's pay information from across all their member companies. In addition to being a likely invasion of privacy, they would then not have the figures from non-MSPA companies. Even with all those numbers, there would be no way to put them into any sort of usable context.

No, I don't ask people what they make. But then we don't know each other. It's a forum. People share their views. If you don't like the question, feel free to not answer. I just found it fascinating when a member said that she started taking more assignments and earned $2000 in the first couple of weeks. I am not an experienced shopper. Barely 2 years in. You guys have a lot of experience and I was just thinking what an experienced shopper could make.

I thought it would be a fun topic. Pardon me for offending you. I just got so excited that for the first time in 2 years, I made $850 last month.

So, maybe that's the key. Someone asked me a question on another thread and I asked why didn't they provide a qualifier. So, maybe if we said "I'm a fairly new shopper and I'm so excited because I hit the $850 mark last month! What is the mark that makes you excited and how did you hit it?" I don't know, maybe then it's not so direct. Most peeps here, that speak up, seem to like a casual, indirect hit. $850 is a lot part-time! I'd say at least 65% of the $$ I make is bonus $$ and VERY long hours two weeks out of the month. Otherwise I would be just topping the 1k each month.

Exactly my point spicy1.. I usually make 500 or less every month. Last month included some good reimbursements (about 200) Intellishop had a lot of assignments last month and Isecret was great too.

How much you get paid each month can also vary drastically from how much you will be paid for shops performed in future months. I may get paid $600 in a month, but perform $2600 worth of work that will be paid in 15, 30, 45, 60 etc days.

In other cultures, especially asia, it's normal to talk about how much a person makes. Hopefully people can understand that what is rude in another location may not be rude somewhere else. Western countries are less direct and more politically-correct/sensitive. In the east, the culture is less politically-correct and more direct

In China, if someone is different, they'll openly talk about it in public or straight to the person's face

Rather than look at one particular month, I think it's better to go with average, especially given the difference in pay periods (from a few days to over 90 days).

Right now the total of my payments received this year and open receivables is about $6400, with $391 received this month so far.

So through August I averaged a little over $800 per month. At the rate I'm going this will be my top year in 10 years of doing it.

We live in a Western culture so I don't see that Eastern culture customs have any bearing. Most people I know would simply ignore and avoid a boorish person who called them fat and ugly. I do know a couple of people who would take it very personally and verbally respond and if the offender was fortunate would not react physically.

As far as the OP, I think the question was innocent enough but not thought out and yes, rude.

I make approximately $1500, more if I do some merchandising. I do this full time, it is my job.

The internet is open to the whole world. Not everyone here lives in the US.

First, it is not PC. It has been a part of culture for decades before the term was even coined.

Second, your argument regarding Internet usage by location is totally irrelevant. It has been established more than once, most of the users on this forum are from North America. We discuss mystery shopping in Canada and the U.S.

That is true but the vast majority of members of this forum are from the US and I am assuming the OP is also. . As far as I'm concerned this was a question from a member of the US to numerous members of the US and your stats on the internet have no bearing. Absolutely right, Dave. And every reader of the forum has a right to chime in and say what they think of the question and pose questions of their own. Such is the reality of the world of communication that we live in. When a person posts on an internet forum, they can't limit the responses only to the answers to their questions, and they certainly can't limit it to only the responses they want to hear.

It doesn't work to say "if you don't want to answer, don't" because the flip side of that is "if you don't want to post, don't." If you do post, be ready to accept that others will also post and you may or may not like what they post but they have a right to post it.

Avg $1000/ mth - started slow and then learned from this forum of other companies. Apps that pay small dollars for tons of pictures to higher paying reoccurring gigs after proving to some MSCs that I'm reliable.
After work and weekends BUT it's still alot of work to get to $1000, I average about $12/shop. So if you do the math, I try and get do a few EVERYDAY...I try to load up what I can since I still don't know the dry times.
Willing to travel within an hour, but only if money is right and I feel like it. There are a few others in my area so I don't see bonused shops very often.

I've eaten enough burgers and boardwalk fries that I never get a craving to use my own funds. My neighbors are sick of my trying to give them pizzas. I could be in car sales or jewelry for the amount of stores I've gone into. I've got enough TP and razors from discount grocery stores to get through the long winter... Winter is coming! Also I was the go-to QSR in my area...I now hate fast food.

I think it would be a good idea to do so, especially if you're thinking about investing years of your life and or tens of thousands of dollars on education in a field that doesn't make much money.

However, OP in this business, you make what you're worth. You learn as you go and you can make decent money.

Exactly, if an aspiring photography major asked an online community how much they made, the person can get a gauge on whether or not investing 4 years in college is worth it. And the community can make a detailed response to his question while others will say "that was a rude question!!!!! We already have 100s of these threads, PLEASE, when will it end!!?!?!?!?!?!??"
