Is it normal for companies to ask for your SIN number when signing up?

This is my first time signing up for a mystery shopping company, and Market Force is asking for my Social Insurance Number. Is this something that other companies ask for and is it safe to give?
Thank you

It is normal for mystery shopping companies to ask for a SS# or an EIN #. They use that information to report your earnings to the IRS as required by law.

SIN seems to be the Canadian version of the SSN.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
Yes it is normal
Some companies make Canadians exempt since we dont have a SSN (although we have a SIN which is the same idea)
