Price Audits at a large chain retailer

There's one of these in my area. Only 85 items with the help of an associate. Unless I sign up for it I can't get to see all the shop info. Does anyone know how these really work? Do you enter the prices in an app? Do you write them down and then transfer them to a report? The pay is okay for a shop lasting 30-40 minutes but there would be an hour and 20 minute round trip plus the report time. I'm hoping to get some info from you all before either letting it go by or making an offer. Thanks!

Good luck getting the shop done in less than 2 hours.

It has been awhile since I did one of these. I loved them and improved my time on-site. You cannot control how long it will take for someone to join you and help you with the audit. But you can do a few things to control the time spent on various tasks associated with this type of audit. Here are some ideas. I printed the provided labeled data colle tion pages and filled them in on-site. I brought a clipboard or notebook to hold the pages of the survey. I do not know whether the surveys are now done with an app. If they are done with an app, your guidelines will say so. I will give information for the old-fashioned way. How familiar are you with the layout of this store? If you generally know where things are and what things are (end cap, bulk, other terms) you can work quickly by moving through adjacent departments sequentially and flipping pages to enter data. If you have time and need, you can visit a location and walk around. Find the scanners, signage, restrooms, fitting rooms, and even ask someone what hard and soft lines are. The layout there will be similar to your chosen location and you can make an efficient route through the chosen or assigned store when you do your audit. If you follow the paperwork exactly, you may need to retrace your steps and spend extra time in purposeless walking. If you have not done one of these, you might not know what I mean until you see the survey form. For example, when you are in a department that contains a fitting room, check the items in the department and check the fitting room before moving to the next, adjacent department. You will need to flip pages of the printed survey form to enter all information for this section of the store, but this is faster than coming back to the area later for additional information. Wear comfy shoes. Because there are many markdowns in many departments, it may be helpful to remember that HBC, vendor foods, and pet items often contain many regularly priced items. Price tags are color coded. This helps you to determine regular prices, sale prices, and clearance prices.

Hopefully, these things are now done with an app...

Can you do other shops and make a small route? If so, remember to schedule everything around the stated hours for this audit. You must finish on time. Good luck! smiling smiley

If it's the one for Marketforce, I did two of them for $80 each. Prepare to spend 1-2 hours per location. For me it was worth it because they were bonused so high, plus the two locations were a block away from each other and I was able to complete them the same day. These locations were only about 20 minutes from my home so I didn't mind. I don't know if I would do them for less because I printed out the form and entered the info on that, then filled out the report on my computer at home, which took additional time. If there is an app to do it, I can't see how that would be efficient because the screen size is so small I think it would be difficult to see everything properly.
These are my favorite shop of all! They truly are. I have always said if I could travel around the country and do these everyday, I would. I know, I am weird. Maybe its because I grew up going to this dying store and have found memories of it. My older sister got her first job at one of our local store when I was in school still. I thought it was way cool! After high school, I too got a job at one of the locations that was in my city (the building was just demolished about a year ago after being closed for several other years). I worked there my whole time in college! When I started with MarketForce I did about 25 of these stores regularly along with their other stores in their company such as the department store, hardware stores, and auto centers. Many of those had closed as well. Those audits were my "bread and butter" from my beginnings of MS "back in the day" (in 2008). RIP to the discount retailer of my childood!
