Questions for Banking Shoppers

There are numerous banking shops in my area that pay well. They all require you to "open a new account". Do you open multiple accounts? Do you feel it negatively affects your credit rating? About how long do you leave it open. Any adverse affects in going back to the same banking system a few months later and opening an account again?
Appreciate any feedback on this.

First, banks are not allowed to do a "hard" credit request for opening an account. Next, where there are further shops that are for only "existing" customers of that bank, no problem with going back and opening accounts for those shops. The one thing to remember, though, is that monthly fees may accrue to you IF there is no monthly direct deposit OR you do not make a very large deposit and hold that in the account for some set period of time OR you do not qualify for a "no fee" senior account. So, as usual with MS work, a little due diligence will be necessary. In some cases the MSC or client will reimburse those fees for the time that you may be required to maintain the account.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Opens up a wide variety of shops. But what about opening an account at the Bank A's branch in Apple City this month, then closing it next month, then opening an account at Bank A's Citris branch the next month. Anyone done that? Do you feel you're identified as a shopper?

Not at all! People in real life open multiple accounts for different reasons! I'm the treasurer for my wine club, putting money aside for night time sunglasses, this is where my gas, metro, Macy's card money goes, etc.

Thanks, I had not thought of that! You can be sure when they come around again and I have open time, I will jump on these!

Not true. There are some that do, legally. There was a discussion about this recently where I provided quite a few links to relevant information.

If a company allows, I've even left accounts open at Apples, Berries, Cherries, and Dates and just had them all sit for a bit. Good gravy, those sound like strip joints.
