First rejected report

Had my first report rejected because I stayed 17 minutes rather than the "required" 20. The guidelines said TRY to stay 20 minutes and I really tried but the sales associate wasn't doing anything to make the sale. I'm sad and mad. I did send an email explaining what the guidelines actually said and why I stayed as long as I felt I could. I asked if it could be reconsidered but, if not, they needed to change the wording on the guidelines to say that you must stay 20 minutes rather than try.

I'm a little triggered (as my daughter would say). Oh well. Lesson learned. Thanks for listening!

You make a very good point and you have every right to be angry. What MSC was it?

If it wasn't a hard requirement for 20 minutes then they should absolutely pay you. You may burn a bridge but you may have to talk to someone higher up.
I know some reports will ask you to why you spent under XX minutes. I have had it pop up on a take out food shop before. At least you can give an explanation. This seems to be a case that they should have asked you why you did not stay the full 20 min.
Yup, "try" does not work. That's not ambiguous, that's pretty clear; in my opinion that means that a little less or more would be okay. If they wanted you to stay 20 minutes the guidelines should say you MUST stay 20 minutes or more. You should fight this one, albeit gently. Please be persistent and don't let this one go. It's bigger than just the payment.
It was Intelli-Shop. I'm thinking they just saw time spent and rejected the shop automatically without reading. I record all my interactions for timing purposes and details so I have proof I engaged. And, yes, I can legally record my conversations in NC.

I'll push it as far as I can, as professionally as I can. I'm still somewhat new so I'm learning. But now, I'm going to buy donuts! My kids are so excited!!!!
MF is the same, if you enter in a time that doesn't jibe, your report will get rejected even though you continue to fill out the report. It won't reject you until after you submit. It's a great flaw in their system.

Lol...you know how it is when you have a million people standing by waiting to do their shops....

I just read that online ...1 M shopper base...unfortunately....I'm guessing 999,000 are self deactivated.

That's why a dozen shops in my area for September are still on the board with $5 bonus.

If you search for their name, you will find that others have had similar experiences, and some feel that they still use the rejected report, but then don't have to pay the shopper.

why am i not surprised at the name of the msc. but they must have thick skins as i know they read this forum and i continue to bash them (on a regular basis, harshly) but they continue to solicit me for assignments and they do offer bonuses, too. i will only do intellishop assignments if they are bonused and not measly ones at that. i strongly suggest you pursue the issue and not cave on it.

idiots.
When in a situation where I can't stay what the guidelines request, I make a strong point that, "I left early because I felt I was in danger of revealing myself as a mystery shopper because X was happening." I've never had a shop rejected when justified that way. I either find a way to include it as a Note to the Editor somewhere appropriate in the narrative.
I didy first Pizza shop for Bare Intermnational last week and spent over 25.00. The editor told me my pictures were not taken at the correct angle and he could not pay me. I do know about tje guidelines but when i submitted two different photos of the pizza thatats as liitle absurd. Now I amout all that money.
When I'm on a shop, and everything was said that had to be said (by the associate and myself), I'll say "If you don't mind, I'd like to browse around a little. If I have any further questions, I'll let you know." That usually works out well to assure I get my 20 minutes in. A friend of mine, who's also a mystery shopper, said she'll start talking to the associate about other things in general, just to get in the required time.
I am not a fan of Intellishop. My sister uses my computer and they sent me a note that they were disconnecting BOTH of our accounts because we had the same IP address. My sister has a different SS#, but lives with us. No need for her to have her own computer as she does not use one very much. They would not even listen to reason. I love Market Force and several others.

Be careful with Market Force. If your sister is registered with them and you use the same computer, there is a danger that MF will deactivate you both because you share the same IP address. Many have been deactivated from MF for that reason.
These MS firms are pretty strict by the sounds of it.

I do some low paying shops if they are on the way for my major work for the day. The requirement is to hang for 15 minutes. So far hanging for 15 minutes in the little hole in wall shop, is difficult to say the least. I've learned to canvas and use extra bathroom evaluation time.

I've had 3 rejected shops in almost 4 years of doing a minimum of 40 shops a month. 2 of the rejects, I was outed. I knew as I left my locations it was going to happen. Im amazed I wasn't outed for all 9 shops that day. I called my scheduler to let her know, so she could start hunting for the reshop.

My first reject was because I got emotional & wrote the report with tons of sarcasm and a huge amount of passive aggressive in my narratives. The shop was ugly, the associates were in the wrong, but I messed up with my narratives. I deserved the reject.

Stuff happens! Don't let it discourage you.

That's incredibly stupid reasoning. Even using different computers and sharing a cable modem would give you both the same IP address.
