PAPA JOHNS: Feedback please

Saw these posted with their new msc and wondered how hard or easy the photo part is which years back was always posted as being very problematic. It sounds easy now when reading the guidelines, but I would appreciate your valued feedback before accepting this shop please. And would an LG Leon Android camera be of high enough resolution for the pics please?? Many thanks

I just signed up for my first PJ but ended up not going through. There is no fee and the reimbursement did not cover the pizza. I guess I won't be doing those after all. Is this through the delivery service Grubhub?
I saw several posts that led me to believe the refusal of pics is either arbitrary, or based on whether the pizza had a problem. You could have all the resolution in the world, but if they don't want to accept it, they will not. So I feel like I dodged a bullet. I can't afford a $28 pizza.
I found Papa John's to be expensive and the pizza was not good. After trying to get the perfect photo it was still rejected and I ended up throwing the pizza away. I don't care which MSC has them now - never again.
I guess you don't like the PJ commercials all over tv either? I haven't had one before but it doesn't look appealing to me at all.
I haven't done a grubhub one, but I do them in Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia and occasionally North Carolina and Ohio (I live in the sweet spot where I'm 2 hours away from everywhere but live in no mans land) and they usually get $15-$25 bonus on em. I take free pizza to work frequently.

I have found the best way to take the pix is to put the pizza on a chair right under a light. I take the pix and to date have not had any issues. One time I had to resubmit another photo but they accepted the shop about five minutes later. I don't like the pizza but we always have guys in the garage and they love it. Just wish they delivered out here, hate having to pick it up!
I did one with the new MSC and took my photos with my cheap LG because my camera batteries were dead. I had no problems with the shop and scored a 10. I gave them a full rundown in the narrative though. I had one feedback comment asking me to use the term CSR instead of associate. I would say it was just as easy as ever.
I use my phone to take the pictures and have never had a complaint about the picture. I have to take them outside as I live so far away.

The problem I have is I can't resize them the way they want. I follow their instructions and they don't come out the exact measurement they ask for. But that doesn't seem to matter.

Easy quick shop and super easy report.

I have done the shops for both companies, don't remember them taking a long time to be approved. The one I had to resend a pix took about an hour or so after I resubmitted.

dang spell check changed done to don't

Have you guys seen the commercials about how Papa Johns counts the toppings on thousands of pizzas each year to make sure they are being made properly? Every time I see that commercial, I am reminded that its our mystery shopping photos that are being used to count the toppings. :-P

I've done the shops for three different companies now. The first required all kinds of crazy stuff - a side view, cutting slices in half to get an edge picture, flipping slices over to see the bottom of the crust, etc. The second only required pictures from the top of the pizza, but that MSC is no longer in business (see another thread for all of the drama). The current MSC has the same requirements, just pics from the top. I've made sure to follow the requirements each time (no shadows, use flash, etc.) and have never had any pictures rejected, even with a few shops on the road when I had to settle for taking pictures in my car.

I have always used my iPhone 5s without any issues (1.2 megapixel camera). It looks like the LG Leon has a 5 megapixel camera, so it should be more than adequate! Just make sure that you have it adjusted to a high enough resolution.
My first mystery shop ever was a Papa Johns a few years ago. The new company's report is a little easier. I always take LOTS of pictures. Taking a picture over the pizza and not from the side is a big thing. I am short so I put mine on the coffee to take pictures.
The key is to take the picture as close to directly above as you can, with no shadows on the pizza. If you take the pic in sunlight you may have little white specs, so be careful of that. You should be able to zoom in and each piece be clear. Take the picture from about 2.5 feet away and then use paint to crop just the one side of the pizza box, it comes out perfectly every time. I've been putting the pizza on my car seat and taking the pic with my hands just below the car ceiling (is that what the inside of the roof on a car is called?) with the car light on during the day, comes out perfect every time.
The only shop I have done is with the new MSC. I stood on the bench on one side of our dining room table and shot directly above the pizza on the table just beneath and to the side of our light fixture. Paint is the easiest way to get a good edit without compromising resolution, like the compression in a screen shot. The report could not have been easier. But always extra pictures.
I’ve posted this before, but with an IPhone or iPad take a “square” picture. It frames the pizza perfectly and there is no need to crop it. You have the option to take a “square” photo when you enter the camera app.
The previous client stopped posting shops around April/May and didn't pay for any shops that were performed after February or March. I've seen a few rural locations for the new client in the past but started seeing a lot more locations (including some but not all of the locations the previous client shopped) in May.

I've never had to crop my pictures. I line up three sides of the box as close as I can to the edges of the rectangular frame and use the part of the lid that shows up in the frame to place the paper with the location and assignment numbers (or I just write the numbers on that part of the box lid for the new client)

I really detested flipping over the pizza and taking a picture of the bottom crust on two pieces. By the time I got done messing with the pizza, it was always cold and I did not want it anymore. tongue sticking out smiley I did a PJ's for the new company and was paid. I worried they would give a hard time about photos but I followed the same formula and lighting as I did on the last company.
I love these! I've had no problems at all doing these shops.I've completed about 7 already. I submit the pictures and do get the email asking for more pics and that's all. No issues. I've learned that they will always ask for more pictures when you get that email. But I've also been wondering if they do that just to see if you hold onto your materials for days or weeks afterwards to test you. Just a thought.
In my area, Papa John's is done by 3 different companies! Ones in the town closest to me are with one company, a few towns over a different company, and the stores an hour away are shopped by a third company! I guess it depends on the franchise owner. I have done them for all 3 companies, no problems with any of the reports. I think that they are pretty easy. The one company does not usually pay a fee, but the bonuses here get up as high as $25 most of the time. I scoop those up and give the pizza to my friends that have a lot of children.
