What would you do???....shopped wrong location

I had shopped a certain restaurant before and was trying to reshop the same location (which is allowed). The website was not very responsive and it did not look like it took my request. I had also been in communciation with the scheduler about it and she assigned shops to me so I ended up with multiple of the shops in overlapping date ranges. I eventually got it straigtened out - or so I thought. I did the shop and realzied when I was entering the report that it was assigned to a different location. In my email communication it was clear which location I was looking for when we were scheduling. Before completing my report I emailed her...And she said she didn't have any open with my original location request but could I do the assigned one. I asked her to cancel...Back and forth email communication she said that does not help her or the client out. (UGH) I know I should have confirmed the locations before shopping...but whats a shopper to do in this instance? Just eat the $50 I spent?

I've shopped the wrong location and not gotten paid, so I know it's painful, and I feel bad for you. It sounds like it was confusing and messy in the request and scheduling, but once the shop was scheduled, you shopped it. You realized when you were entering the shop that the location you shopped is not the one you were assigned.
I would have done what you did, call the scheduler to see if the other location was open. If they could have used the report for the location you did, that would have been a win-win. But, the scheduler said she didn't have an open shop for that location. In that case, yes, I would kick myself and grumble a little, but I would realize, as you did, that I should have confirmed the locations before shopping, and I would eat the $50 I had spent. If it was a restaurant I wanted to shop again, and you clearly have shopped it before and wanted to shop it again, I would get in the car and go do the assigned location, both to live up to my agreements and to keep a good relationship with a company I want to work for again. I hate it when I get careless and it costs me money. It happens.
roflwofl - need to clarify--- I didn't realize it until I was entering the report that it was the wrong location and I saw the address that was listed. I would not have done the shop if I thought I was at the wrong location.
I think I completely understood you. If you had confirmed before you went, you wouldn't have gone. You did go.

After you did the shop at the wrong location, it would have been convenient if the scheduler had needed a shop at the location you did, because if she had a shop at the location you did, she could have allowed you to enter the report on the shop you did. But she did not need it, so your shop was no good.

I think in this instance, yes, the shopper eats the money spent.
I did the wrong location for a grocery which I do weekly (different locations). MSC allowed me to re-do, but I lost the money spent doing the wrong one, at lease I had the groceries....this happens once in awhile and although it stings, it was my fault and I accept that. I would make sure for a restaurant, I checked the address. Really nothing the MSC can do, you shopped wrong location, hopefully, you enjoyed the meal.

Been there, done that. Fortunately I only shop restaurants that I like to eat at. That way, if I have to "eat" the expense, at least I got a good meal out of it

Based on what you said, you did not check the assigment to verify the location assigned. Regardless of email exchanges, ultimately the shopper is responsible for making sure the assigment is properly posted.

I had this happen last month. I requested a specific location and received an email from the scheduler approving my request. When I went to their website to review and confirm the assignment, it was for a different location (same client).

I have also run into a situation where the MSC changed the timeframe on a shop, after I confirmed it.

FWIW, I log in and check every assignment just before performing it. I assume that something may have changed. The MSCs pretty much take no responsibility, putting everything on us.

Two gas stations in the same town, on the same road, the only difference was the street number. Dyslexia struck and I realized after the fact that I'd done the wrong one. Read myself the riot act, and drove down the street and did the right one. Sometimes it happens. The smart bunny learns from its mistakes and carries on.

Along the same lines, I almost cost myself a month of burger shops because I was careless in answering the verification questions and accidentally clicked on "Yes I have a medical condition..." When I got the message these shops were not available to me for the month, I emailed the help desk who explained that once the verification answers are submitted, they can't be reset, nor can they tell you what question/s you screwed up. Fortunately, I tried a different dated shop a couple of days later, paid attention to my answers, and got assigned the shop I wanted.
I've clicked on the wrong verification answers before but was still able to get shops. I don't understand why i have to keep verifying when i do the same type shop.
