Christmas Shopping

Have any of you started your Christmas shopping for this year? Can you tell us about MS'ing gigs where you are getting Christmas gifts while shopping? I am looking for some ideas.

Yes I’m halfway done with shopping. Some folks don’t like them but I’ve done the Bed, Bath, and Beyond to rack up a couple nice gifts (use the coupon). I’ve also done the dinner shop for certificates which I’ll use for gifts. I, too, would be interested in other ideas.

That is a huge question! For whom are you shopping? Kids, adults, nerds, other? Are they humble or snobs? Are they picky? Are there actual special considerations? Are there any items in your grocery stores that can be used in/for Christmas gifts? If you are free in these shops to buy whatever you want within reason, you might buy something during a grocery store shop that will contribute toward your Christmas activities. You might put together the ingredients for a recipe and package it in a bowl or on a platter. You might purchase the ingredients for someone's fave dish and prepare it for them. Some stores have appealing little stocking stuffers. You could buy wrapping supplies during one of these shops, but these items might cost less elsewhere. There are clothing and shoe store shops where you can buy clothing or shoes. The reimbursements might be more of a discount, but you could buy clothes or shoes and give them as gifts. You could also do more shops of any type to accumulate cash that you can give directly or spend anywhere.

Speaking of grocery stores, you could buy the items to make them a gift basket of their favorite snacks and treats, including coffee, chocolate, etc. And closer to the holiday, you might be able to get an actual gift basket, tin of holiday cookies, etc.
I buy presents year round. If I see a potential gift, I hoard it till I see a perfect occasion and recipient. If anything, if you find something priced lowed enough, just buy it out of pocket. Otherwise, look around for some decent reimbursement shops in general to help supplement the gift expenses.

I need to find out when Chanakah is this year and plan, but I never do anything until after Thanksgiving.
I may buy something early but only if it's great at a good price like a piece of jewelry. Remember, the good sales start after Thanksgiving.

The client was already named, so I'll just mention clients, not MSCs. Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, Boy Scouts store (I get books, games, etc.), Modell's, Nordstrom Rack, Six (jewelry). I use the reimbursed items for birthday, holiday, etc., gifts. I have a large decorative basket that I toss the items into when I get home so that they are all in one place when I need to find something.

No. I will wait until the family lists come out--by Thanksgiving at the latest. We're changing up the family gift exchange this year. Instead of buying for everyone (which in recent years had turned into a gift card exchange) it will be more like a Secret Santa model-one person to buy for with a $50 limit. Much easier!

I always had a stash from Aeropostale and if the timing was right some expensive, deliciouso chocolate. Miss those shops! Now, the best I can do is little Yankee candles for stocking stuffers. I recently did an unexpected unusual shop where I was reimbursed for an expensive bracelet. Gave it to one of my girls when in retrospect I should have saved it for Christmas.
