Applebees

A new round just posted and I was able to self assign a dinner shop. The guidelines said you can order any entrée. However the reimbursement amount in the guidelines is different than what is shown in the shopper log. Also the timeframe was slightly different in the guidelines. I called (as is required if you haven't done the shop before) and the MSC employee will have to check on the discrepancies. She did mention that there are two versions of this shop under different franchisees so maybe that's the cause of the confusion. I asked her to send me an email once she finds out the correct info. As usual I am amazed when an MSC posts shops (multiple locations) with obvious problems with the guidelines. Talk about attention to detail!

A new round just went out in my area as well. No requirement but to order one entree. Like Kenasch said - I found the same discrepancies and plan to question when I make my call. I like $40 more that $25. I was allowed to self-assign, I thought about grabbing a second one, but they had all been taken. They were filled in less than 30 minutes from when I received the email.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
They got back to me and the guidelines are wrong and will be updated. Not surprising, the reimbursement is the lower amount shown in the job description itself.
Damn....Kenasch....but, no surprise. Yes, they were self-assign in my area.

The two for $20 is allowed and sounds interesting. Anyone tried it and can give recommendations on what to order?
these are coming back and forth but it is very hard to get them..I did once that place but with different company and shop was to check some beer brand

Shopping Eastern Pennsylvania since 2009
I hope there is a next time.

My Applebee's report has been in "completed" status since 11/28. Anyone else?

I did mine on 11/27. It says completed as well.
Just an FYI..the entire month of December Applebees has $1.00 Long Island Ice Teas...*shrug*
If you do a lunch you are allowed to order combo specials. I asked and they said yes.

About that burger: when I did dine-in shops there years ago for a different MSC, my husband ordered the burger and it was awful. We did the shop again and he ordered a burger again thinking it was just an unfortunate mishap. Nope, it was a dry hockeypuck the second time, too. I think that like most chains, this experience will vary from location to location. The spinach artichoke dip is consistently good.
I hate a bad burger. I always check the food. If the burger looked bad or smelled bad I would have exchanged it for something else. I'm sure it wasn't flame cooked but it was still very good, especially compared to what I expected.

My report status was changed to RECEIVED today.

I received a "10" for my report. I asked if the shops would be ongoing or if they were a one time thing. I'll report back when they respond.

Can anyone give a hint of which company does applebees.... I know we can't name the msc company can you tell me another shop that they do as a clue???
The MSC uses Sassie. I believe all shoppers should make an effort to sign up with all Sassie companies. It’s not that difficult and a form filler such as RoboForm can make the process relatively quick.

Signing up with several sassie companies will definitely Impact the amount of shops you go do. Right now, there are several merchandising shops in sporting goods stores, at least in my area. Nothing for regular Customer shops.
Probably only the shoppers who know the company will understand.

Which is why you need to sign up with every MSC you can. When I first signed up with this MSC, they had no jobs in my area. Then one day I received an email this this MSC and there was a job. I did a search on the client and found they were expanding into my area. That client is no longer shopped. Then nothing in my area for a couple of years, and then recently received an email about Applebee's. I had lunch there today.
This is what the MSC's response was: the customer for the first round of Applebee's shops is only doing it one time this fall and then again next fall...700 locations that are divided across multiple franchises. Those were the ones that had menu requirements.

However, the largest Applebee's franchise group is having us do 2 to-go shops in December, and 3 in January, February, March. Those are a minimum of any entree, then anything else you want up to $25 reimbursement. So plenty of opportunities of the next few months to grab some of those. That franchise group has 474 locations and we'll shop all of them at that rate.

I agree that another MSC shares Applesbee's because the requirements are different. When I did this shop recently, the strict ordering requirements caused my reimbursement to be too low, making the reimbursement not worth the shop. I like to get as much food as I can for the money, and I was left with too much money unspent.

I did one this month. Food was horrible and reimbursement/fee didn't cover the meal (the "2 for $20" varies in price). Dinged by the editor on top of it. Doubt I'll take another.

BJ's has far better food, an easier report, and a higher reimbursement.

How does the 2 for $20 promo vary in price? I’m looking online and I see several options to order two meals for $20. .
It wasn’t for a shop, but my husband and I ordered food for carry out from Applebee’s this past Friday and the service was horrible. I wish it was a shop...nobody came out to the carry out area so after 7 minutes of waiting my husband just went inside...only to be ignored by 2 employees who were too busy chit chatting to acknowledge him. Then they couldn’t even find our order that we placed.

Their page [http://www.applebees.com/menu/2-for-20] reads: Pricing and item availability may vary. Please check with your local Applebee's.

Apparently mine is one where the price "varied." Even at $20, it would not have been worth it. Basically a box of macaroni and cheese with a few small pieces of chicken and a tablespoon of shredded cheese on it. Won't eat there again. I guess that's why the shop was still available.
