About c-store coffee shops

I know there was some discussion on here that I now can't find where you have to visit a location of a large travel center, purchase a 24 oz coffee and evaluate the cleanliness on the coffee/deli and the service of the coffee host. It seem I recall someone saying you had to lift the lids on the coffee maker and check something. Does any recall that discussion or can anyone comment that's done this sort of shop?
Thanks
Charlie

I have done them and it requires pulling the grounds basket. They are simple shops, though it is hard to find something to do in the small store for the required 20 minutes without sticking out like a sore thumb, and pulling the grounds basket is just one more sore thumb behavior. I only have done them from time to time, even though one location is the closest retail business establishment to my home.
This is another one where they don't tell you about things like pulling out the grounds basket until after you accept the shop. Don't why they just don't give you all the details up front and let you make an informed decision.
I do one now and again..yes, you need to check the the grounds, very tough since Assit. is always there. I once had to say, I love the smell of coffee grounds, and make a joke out of it, we laughed, but, how many times can you do this, hence, job done by me maybe twice a year.

Sorry, just found out I can not post the company. At least I don't think I can.

Tulsa Shoppers, you take Woodland Hills Mall and Promenade Mall. O'hh yes, you can also have the Adult "fun" stores. I will take the rest of Tulsa & Broken Arrow. Thank you! -- I.L.Banks

If I wander around the store long enough, I can check those grounds. The attendant has to go potty sometime. lolol

Also, I can sometimes grab the convenience store and the Wendy's, Subway or McDonalds attached to it. That gives me more hang out time.

I also wondered about going around and pulling the grounds out to check. How obvious is that! They were really wanting the new one shopped here but I knew it was not even open yet. I accepted the shop for the early morning 24oz coffee. I get a phone call asking me if I would also do the store the next day. I told them I didn't think it was even open yet. He said it was on for April and to go ahead and if the store was not ready to take pics of it. Well I went early morning & the dump trucks were everywhere! I found the lot where they parked and got out to take pictures then went across street & took more from there. I sent then to the scheduler & he said they were great & he pulled the shops & will pay me for the one shop. Don't know if they are behind schedule or what but I get paid anyway for then one and it was paying more than the store shop.Fine with me!
They are trying to get someone to do the one in my area for $18. After I did one for $10 I told my wife I wouldn't do another for double the money. They aren't quite there yet.
I've done several that were from 10 am - 8 pm. I don't have to check coffee pots that way. lol

Mine were early morning as well, the plus for me was it is a truckers stop and gas is cheaper...one of the reasons to do them, plus they have a great varity of coffee. Now I want to do one again, it's been since last summer that I've seen one, I'm sure they changed MSC.

What are you checking for by pulling the grounds? I've always thought this was a dumb enough shop making you stay there for 20 minutes without someone coming out saying...duhhh, you aren't our mystery shopper are you???
My best guess is that policy is to immediately dump the used grounds and only open a new package of grounds when you are ready to brew (keep in all the aromatics that way). So any grounds in the basket, new or used, is likely to be a violation of company policy if the coffee maker is not actively brewing a fresh pot.
those pop up every once in a while.. i wait for an extra bonus... its just such a pain so early in the morning (6:00-8:30am)... if it causes me to get up early im not doing it for cheap... i dont wake up for less than 10 clams...
