Just curious. Simon Property Audit? I did that one once. Swore I wouldn't do it again for $100 for all the reasons you listed and more.

I did this for $20 (still too much work as you have to take photos of all dirty carpet, damaged furniture and so on...) but now I saw it for $10. Wayyyyyyyy too much work! 
I would need $30 or more to do this job, as I have a big mall that I have to cover both floors, restrooms, food court, elevators, charging stations, and on and on...

Yes, not enough pay for what it requires. Even if you're going to be shopping there anyway, it's still too much. Just the interaction with the mall office would be enough for the fee.

That must be a different one as this one requires photos of every bathroom for one thing. That along required more than 3 photos. I can't remember all the requirements but some that come to mind are photos of the loading dock, courtyards, security worker, etc, etc.@Mum wrote:

Is this the one that was advertised as being a gift card purchase? I was willing to do that one until the guidelines revealed several more requirements. Why couldn't they just explain the scope of the project up front?
I remember it was a Simon Group shop but back in August, the requirements were simple. Maybe, they made it more complicated later. The MSC that posts these shops is known for it's stinginess. They have Credit Union/ Bank shops for $5. Some of my phone shop pay better than that!
No, there is no gift card purchase with this shop. This one states that you will take bathroom photos and non compliant area. The problem is that you have to go everything to check for compliance. I have done another shop that only required asking about a coupon booklet at the guest service desk. That was super easy and paid the same, about $10. Thanks for the heads up, I don't think there are any Simon malls near me but I will know not to take the job if I see it.
On a side but related note, has anyone else heard that Simon is suing Starbucks to keep them from closing their Teavana shops in Simon Malls? I think they're in money trouble.

Don't some states have laws against taking photos in a public restroom? Expectation of privacy, etc. comes to mind. I know the schools in my state have a no-tolerance policy on this.
I thought it was against the law. But apparently not around here. I think if I saw someone taking pictures in a bathroom I was in I would at least call mall security about it. The idea is creepy IMHO.@LGRM wrote:

I've done extensive audits for these centers for 300+ dollars. No way am I doing it for 8 dollars. I don't care how condensed it is now. Just walking through will take 45 minutes to an hour.

I took a look at the expanded job list for this MSC and found they do have one (the same one I tried to do before it's a little beyond my usual range) and it is $8. Unbelievable. The minimum wage here is $10. That means to do it at minimum wage you would have to complete it, report and all in 48 minutes. NOT A CHANCE that is possible.
As I've said before, I wouldn't do it for a $100 it is so obnoxious. I feel badly for anyone who takes it without knowing what's involved. Even their paint shops, which I also won't do any more, pay $9 and are a lot less trouble.

I did it once and after all that wasted time they excluded the shop...you have to take a whole bunch of photos and one of the areas that they wanted you to take a picture of was not present at this location. They emailed asking for clarification and I emailed them back and next day they excluded the shop saying the shopper(I) didnt respond to repeated requests for information. This MSP is a piece of work in my opinion.
The gift card one is a little deceptive. It's posted as purchasing a gift card and you get to keep it, but there is no reimbursement for that gift card. So, you are out of pocket unless you actually need to buy a gift card.

Mall shops introduced me to mystery shopping. They used to pay $25 and the gift card of $25 was reimbursed. There were no photos required and I really enjoyed doing them especially since I scheduled some other shops in the same malls. Reports were on Customer Service and Security and the general condition of the mall. I used to do at least two a day. I specially liked doing them in December and got my personal shopping at the same time. Those mall shops are no longer available.
I forgot to add that the fees were actually $25 for the Customer Service and another $25 for the condition of the mall which phrase escaped my mind right now. So the fee was actually a total of $50 and the gift card was returnable for reimbursement. I liked them because the malls were upscale. They were also all accessible by TTC (public transportation). The only thing that prevented me from doing more a day was they were on specific time.

Oooh I didn't catch that. What a load of crap. I almost did it so that I could regift the card. The card stand is in front of the booth though, so I would feel dumb if I asked for something that was right there.
If you purchase a gift card you are not out of pocket unless the MSC does not reimburse the fees. So far the ones I've seen do reimburse the fee.

Would it be a violation of forum rules if I asked if the MSC involved was based in Atlanta, GA? I'm not mentioning the actual MSC BUT given that it can be determined if this answer is yes I thought I'd better ask.......

I'm pretty sure I saw this shop and I almost took it as I had shops at a Simon Mall I was doing but somehow $8 just seemed so.....disrespectful I believe would be the word. I'm glad I did not take this shop! I'm worth more than $8 and thankfully have the right to sell my mystery shopping services to MSC's who pay better.@AnneAshley wrote:

I have taken photos for a different MSC in a public bathroom of a swap meet - but the photos were of the conditions of the toilet in the men's room and with the stall door closed. Under any other conditions I would not take such a photo myself......@Shop-et-al wrote:
