New Mileage Rates Released... Apologies if someone already posted.

Forgot to post a couple of days ago but I figured someone else hit on it already. Still waiting on the new tax bills and all that -- but anyway looks like the rate went up.

Irene, So did the cost for Medicare. I'll take my extra $13 a month after Medicare increase and buy a new home. lol!
They raised it by one penny! I got a .05 cent raise one year and I told the Accountant he can keep it, he must need it more than I do. I'm driving about 25,000 miles a year for MS so that's an increase of about $250.

Beginning on Jan. 1, 2018, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be:

54.5 cents for every mile of business travel driven, up 1 cent from the rate for 2017.
18 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes, up 1 cent from the rate for 2017.
14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations.
The business mileage rate and the medical and moving expense rates each increased 1 cent per mile from the rates for 2017. The charitable rate is set by statute and remains unchanged.
My social security actually went down $50 per month. My medicare went up around $80 per month. Letter said it was a one year increase but I really doubt it.
Insight, my Soc Sec. went up $20.00 Mo., and my Medicare went up awhile ago about 13.00, but we have a new benefit which makes up for it. Having done a bunch of AARP shops this year, I'm up on it. I'm sure your medicare did not go up should re-check.

Live consciously....
My Medicare premium went up $24/mo and so my 2% increase added a whole extra $9.00 to my monthly SS check. Now I think I can buy maybe 2 more loaves of bread a month!!!!
Yeah! but I won't get Medicare for another year. have to be disabled for two years to get it. my cobra is $790.00 a month.
