As I am building routes and planning ahead, I keep the tabs for all the job boards that have a bunch of little shops around me in which I am not particularly interested in doing - but wouldn't object to.... Then, when I find myself traveling in said direction, I quickly check them to see what else is on the way. However, I generally do not commit to such a shop without checking that I can add more first - unless the scheduler is willing to offer enough to make the trip worthwhile without others to accompany it.
Another option that I use is to look further way than the shop around which I am building a route. For instance, Would you drive fifteen miles past the hotel to pick another shop up?
The only other thing I would wonder: Do you need to look at a different few MSC's? (I have no idea how many you have and/or have registered with.) I keep a few pages open all the time (iSS, KSS, SecondtoNone, MaritzCX, Trendsource, etc.) It seems I can always find something anywhere I am going off one of these...
