How do you find last minute shops?

One of my goals for the new year is to get better at on-the-fly scheduling. For example, today I had a scheduler contact me about a hotel restaurant integrity shoo for tomorrow. Even though it's about 25 miles from my house I took it, figuring that I could find other shops to do on the way home.

NOTHING! I've looked at the websites of every one of the MSCs I did business with in 2017, and a couple of others. Not even Market Force has something that will fit in the time frame! I will continue my search after dinner, but wondered what others do in a similar situation.

As I am building routes and planning ahead, I keep the tabs for all the job boards that have a bunch of little shops around me in which I am not particularly interested in doing - but wouldn't object to.... Then, when I find myself traveling in said direction, I quickly check them to see what else is on the way. However, I generally do not commit to such a shop without checking that I can add more first - unless the scheduler is willing to offer enough to make the trip worthwhile without others to accompany it.

Another option that I use is to look further way than the shop around which I am building a route. For instance, Would you drive fifteen miles past the hotel to pick another shop up?

The only other thing I would wonder: Do you need to look at a different few MSC's? (I have no idea how many you have and/or have registered with.) I keep a few pages open all the time (iSS, KSS, SecondtoNone, MaritzCX, Trendsource, etc.) It seems I can always find something anywhere I am going off one of these...

jobslinger, presto, msjobboard.com, shoppershare to name some aggergate sites. Then popular msps individual sites like maritz, and ipsos. If you can't find enough you need to sign up with more msps.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
Good suggestions. I'm currently registered with 159 MSCs, but I guess it's time to add more. All the low hanging fruit has been picked--I'm registered with EVERY company on EVERY aggregator.

After paying attention to all the emails and checking job boards consistently, it will be much easier. January isn't always the best month anyway. Not everything is back yet plus you get some folks looking for extra income to cover Christmas expenses.

Last minute jobs seem to come to me....I think oh good I'm not working rest of the week and bingo, a good one in my town shows up...not working all week, see how that goes.

I got super lucky this evening.... I had been hunting a target at an out-of-the-way bonused apartment for about a week and finally reached her this afternoon. I had no time to look for other shops if I was going to make the visit today, so I just went. Just as I was leaving, I got a call to pick up a shop that had been flaked on and offered a $25 bonus... The shop was on my way home.

Where do I find last minute shops? I get frantic phone calls from schedulers who are desperate enough to pay my high fees and knowledgeable enough to know that I will submit a proper report on time.
There has been a lot of good information on last minute shops. However, Kathy got one of those calls and is now looking to schedule more shops ASAP to fill out the route. If the mystery shopping gods are on her side, she may get five or six calls for the exact same area. If not, she will need to mine some job boards.

One of the things I love about this board is the wealth of information that's available. Thanks to all for the tips, and keep 'em coming!

I never found another shop to pair with today's, but I turned the day into sort of a field trip. I got to stop at a few retailers that are too far from my house to get to on a regular basis and walk outside to take advantage of our January thaw weather (mid-50s).
