Movie Theater Shop CAUTION RANT AHEAD!!!!!

I was so thrilled to finally land a movie theater shop. I've been trying ever since I learned that one of the MSC's I do has them and I finally landed one. When I first checked the movies I'd get to choose from about a week ago, I found it was too soon to see them. Tonight, I went to the theater's website to look at Friday's choices I got a shock. There is exactly 1 movie that will be showing Friday. This a theater that has 14 sub theaters and the only one available to me is Black Panther. My only choice is 3D or not 3D. This is not exactly my kind of movie. What a disappointment. Can someone at least tell me if it's a decent movie? <SMH> in disappointment

Yeah, I don't do those shops...every rare once in awhile if we really want to see something and have the time we will go. But, we research it carefully first. Did you do Rotten Tomatoes for a review?
Haven't done the Rotten Tomatoes thing yet, good idea. I'll try e-mailing the scheduler but I think I remember he/she specifically wanted someone for this weekend. sad smiley

If this is a Regal theater, most of the shows in many locations have not been posted beyond Thursday yet. In my area, one of the Regal theaters shows only Black Panther, Early Man, and Samson show so far, although there are 11 screens. Another Regal theater I go to only shows Black Panther, although there are 16 screens. Give it a day or so. There'll be a lot more choices by Wednesday.

I do plan to see Black Panther. I saw the previews and it looks pretty good.
I just checked Rotten Tomatoes and it has a very high rating. So the only downside is that I'm just not a superhero movie fan. Other than the first 2 Superman movies, I've avoided them.

It is Regal so that's good to know, thanks for the heads up.

The theaters in my area which are not Regal tend to do the same thing. They take down the movies that they think are leaving the day the lineup changes but they do not know for sure what new shows are coming so if you look at the lineup before they know what is coming it looks like they will not have many movies.
What type of shop is this? When I’ve done trailer checks or audience counts, I’ve never had time to watch the whole movie. It’s been a few years though, I try to avoid being in crowded places for extended periods of time.
The hype for the Black Panther movie is huuuuge, making this weekend a bigger event than usual. The theaters around me have more than half of their screens playing Black Panther all evening long this weekend, and lot of the presales are sold out for the peak evening times. Maybe you can use that as a justification for asking for a different date, saying that the audiences and volume will be atypical?
I wanted to see the Greatest Showman. I just saw previews for Peter Rabbit and that looked cute if you wanted to see something cute/kids/funny

If it's the shop I'm thinking about, the fee is almost nothing. Your "fee" is two tickets and popcorn. Seeing a movie you're not interested in wastes your evening in exchange for a report that requires a manager's signature and a few narratives.

Even if half their screens are for one movie, the other half will still have something else. I, too, am looking forward to The Greatest Showman.

The movie shops I've done have been for 'art' houses that show mainly independent films. I enjoy seeing something that I wouldn't have picked on my own.

You say this is a Regal Theater. You may not want to see "Black Panther" on a Friday night. You need to count the number of people in the auditorium and if it's full it's hard to count. Plus you need to buy tickets at the box office. The auditorium may be sold out from online orders.
The Regal reports are easy. You need to get names including a manager. You don't need to get a manager's signature. The only narrative is you need to explain all the "no" answers.
Regal reports are easy, but I always wait until it's something we really want to see and that we have time to do during a weekday matinee for the very reasons eclark3 mentioned. It's so much easier to count 5-15 people in the auditorium (not to mention that I hate crowded theaters anyway).
Oh, and take some pocket Purell and try to sit away from other people. Plenty of germs and germy people lurking about in theaters.
Thanks for all of the information!!!!

How would one get a manager's name? Would I ask an employee? I have wondered about the Regal reports but haven't taken one since it takes so long for almost no fee. (arrive 30 minutes prior to the show plus movie time.)
They wear a gold name tag and are wearing business attire, generally in the lobby interacting with employees and sometimes they are at the box office at my theater. You just walk up and ask them a question or linger close enough to get a look at the name.
Of all the movie chains I shop, if you take a date the Regal shops are the best money makers since the reimbursement covers two small drinks, a small popcorn and two tickets. I once did a shop at another chain. The reimbursement did not cover what we needed to order, and my profit was only 38 cents. That chain I go by myself now. Regardless, you don't make money with movie shops. The benefit you get from them is you get to enjoy a movie.
The theater shop that I have done includes asking for a fountain drink and giving the concession employee a gift certificate award if they try to upsell. It feels good to give someone an award, and also see a good movie. Unfortunately both times I've done this I wasn't able to give out the award sad smiley --The paperwork was easier for me but I wanted to make someone's day smiling smiley

If you do not drink soda, then after you either gave out the reward or did not and the shop is technically done, you can then exchange the unwanted soda for popcorn or candy and you still will keep the original receipt with the required soda purchase listed. Shake my head in disbelief that some of these kids lose out on that $50.00 reward by not following such simple instructions !!
Yes! During the holidays I was trying to give away TWO 50 dollar rewards each time I did it and wasn't able too. They must let the concession attendant know what they missed out on. I would hope that would make them do the upsell in the future.
