BP Oil audits...

Hi, i'm going to do my first one today... looked at the guidelines, and all I can say is, these certainly aren't the BP darks i'm used to doing! Some of the photo requirements confuse me... i don't know if they're required or not. how many of these 45 degree angle photos are we supposed to take? are we really supposed to take photos of all the bollards? what is this code redemption thing? the site i'm doing is a full serve station.

BP is a huge pain in the butt. I’ve written them off this year. The MSC has the worst editors on that project and as much as I am very tempted by a $30 incentive, your post reminds me why I need to steer clear.

I was suckered into taking several with bonuses. All were at full service stations. After the store purchase and rr check, I go to the gas pumps and tell the guy I need to enter the rewards number. It hasn't been a problem, except there have been "No Rewards Available" on any of them. So, don't know what that's about. My card got blocked for several days and I could not earn my own rewards with my linked card because I had to use another card. As far as the 45 degree shot, I take several and submit them all. Only one is required. Be sure to get the canopy and poles in the photo and take it at an angle so the pumps are visible. What makes you think you need shots of all bollards? I've only submitted photos of any with damage/scratches/etc. Otherwise, none are required, afaik. They are like any others. Once you've done a few, they become easier. Still much better than Shell, IMO, but a definite PITA. And don't forget the photo of yourself in lovely vest!!

As I've stated in other threads, you need to put together a worksheet with all of the "required photos" in bold and, with a space next to them for a check mark. What are the "required photos"? Those are the ones that must be taken and submitted for every shop. There are others that might be needed if you find an infraction.
Prior to being able to perform the shop, did you take the quiz? If so, and you passed, you should be reasonably aware of the requirements. Plus, you should have received the BP guide via mail or FedEx. Also, you should also have reviewed and printed out the updates.
Last of all. If you are ready to perform the shop, I suggest that you click on the shop and actually look at the shop's debrief questions. You don't have to answer anything, just review all the questions. This will help you determine the pertinent responses needed. When you reach the end of the debrief, just click on the "Save" button.
I have done lots of gas shops for this MSC, and I am not a fan of the BPs. The editors came back at me asking why the purchase time on my gas receipt was before my in store mystery purchase. Apparently they want the gas part to be done post reveal? That didn’t make sense to me, but ok.

This is also the only shop that wanted all pictures taken in landscape mode.

If there is an infraction, they want the landscape photo taken from a ways back so you can see the surrounding area.

They aren’t exactly “difficult” shops to do (especially when you are used to this company), but they have some annoying little things to remember that can be a huge headache if you forget.

Yes, in their guidelines book (you should have received the book in the mail/FedEx), it clearly states the progression of the shop. I agree, it doesn't make sense, but whatever.
Before your purchase, you should first check out the restrooms (I suggest using the restroom of your sex, make the purchase and then return to check out the other sex's restroom). Your decision there.
Next go out to the pump and be sure to input the "Rewards" code. There should be some sort of alert on the pump for it. Look carefully! If not, then pump your $6 worth of gas.
They also want only CC or gift cards used, not debit. That can be difficult for multiple shops on the same day using your CC. I suggest purchasing a gift card.
I've been informed that the "Blue" gas stations are now requesting "landscape" photos only.
Last of all, ensure that you take the photo of yourself wearing the safety vest. Be sure that you are wearing the required clothing. Look in the guidelines book for "NoNo clothing - you know, "business casual" by their interpretation - no jeans, tube tops, etc.
Glad I read this - I was tempted by an email with a $15 bonus for a green gas station... sounds like alot of work especially if wearing jeans is an issue.
I don’t understand the Shell hate. Those are the easiest to do, for me, at least.

I'm okay with them.
Once I realized there is a certain way they need to be done, they became a snap. Not a big secret, just something you learn over time.
Maybe it’s something I learned so early on that I found them instantly easy. I never ever hear from the editors, which is paramount for me.

did it yesterday. pretty much the same as the rest, really. say hi, look around, take photos. getting gas last was different. one thing i like is the report is shorter than the other gas station clients, that was refreshing. i guess it all comes down to the edit. if they’re not too annoying, i could see myself regularly doing these as long as the money is good.

You don't buy the gas post-reveal. You go in and check the restroom. Then you make a purchase inside. Then you go out and pump gas. THEN you reveal. Likely they had stations figuring out the shoppers and cleaning the restroom quickly before the reveal. Now you see the condition before they realize you are there.

The gas purchase is post reveal. It goes bathroom, convenience store purchase, retrieve vest/LOA from car, reveal, and then audit/gas purchase.

I’ve done more of these now and have gotten used to them.
