You likely want a PV500 button camera.... Talk to Dan at Greyhawk Video Solutions. He'll be able to tell you exactly what you need. he might even chime in on this thread.

Most of us say MSer for Mystery Shopper.

Kim
PV-500 button camera/recorder set with upgraded camera

BUT be very careful to work through a recognized, reputable dealer like Dan or thru Joe Rossetti, the current IMSC authorized dealer for all things video.

I am copying here part of a post that I made on a similar subject.

With respect to doing video with a cell phone...
Positioning a cell phone to take video while undetected takes a lot of practice. I know, becasue I have practiced with the original Talon app, which is no longer in use from what I hear. They just never got it to work for a broad range of MS needs and are now using a different app. Because what works best will vary by height, distance from subject and many other factors, no one can just tell you what "hold" and "pose" gives you your best angle for any given shot. Also, unless your phone camera app is capable of turning the picture "right side up" automatically, as, I think, only apps customized for MS work can currently do. phone video may well not be acceptable at all. The shopper will need to ask the MSC what video quality standards the client demands for any given shop assignment. Just about the only equipment that produces video that 20-30 MSCs that assign video will accept is the PV-500 with upgraded camera.

Finally, head-mounted cams, (hat, eye glasses, or hat) typically do not have the battery life to do apartment, new home, etc video shops, which pay well. In addition, on longer shops the constant head movement tends to afeect the video so much that viewers get vertigo! These have their uses for short shops twhere the video must capture activity behind a high counter, by leaning down, or when seated in a vehicle (Drive thru windows, in particular.) But for all-around use, it is still the PV-500 for video quality, versatility and longevity.

How and where would I find the contact information for Dan or any reputable video camera provider?

I believe his contact information (phone and email) are available on his website above.

ALL,
I highly recommend that you not by $300 ++ equipment before arranging/taking video training from a reputable source. Also, having prior MS experience with shops similar, but non-video, is highly recommended. So, try non-video new homes, auto sales, valet parking, apartment sales and assisted living shops (Likely the most common and best paid video opportunities) before attempting to do them with video.

There are many shoppers (perhaps most) who would not benefit from video. If you live in a rural area or a metro that is not growing, it is very likely that your return on investment would be low. Unless you travel.
