Submitting a handwritten report, an exact replica of the online version. What's the point?

So there's this shop that's come up recently that requires the report to be printed out and filled in manually, then uploaded and attached to the online questionnaire of the same nature. Any ideas why?

I do a couple of those. The ones I do are easy. The online report is clicking the yes no boxes. It takes about 5 minutes.

If I had to guess, I would guess they want the hard copy, but also want the report immediately. So, they ask for both.

Unless, they tell me directly why, I am only guessing.

Simple... the client requires it. BUT the secret is that you can attach a typed addendum with all the same words as in the online report. Just write, "See addendum," in the place where you would otherwise start handwriting that portion of the report.

Because someone at the client is old school and likes handwritten reports. And no one’s managed to convince them it’s redundant and more expensive.

I suspect the idea is that the hand written report is to be done fresh in the mind and then transcribed to the computer; an assumption is made if one waits to get home to one's computer to write then the data is stale and may be inaccurate. In reality, I suspect many wait until home to do both reports. Others may write the report, on keyboard, within minutes of doing the shop and then transcribe it from computer to paper when home.

I deleted the email because it sounded like it wasn't worth the pay. Anyone willing to remind me what MSC? (The client has not yet been named.)

Informa requires hand written forms for many shops. BARE requires hand written forms for a single type of shop for a specific client.

Please see my post above about handwritten forms. It was Informa shops that I was describing. There IS a shortcut that they accept!

The client requires the handwritten questionnaire for legal reasons. They must have a handwritten signature. As Wales mentioned you can type up the questionnaire and answers as long as we have your actual signature at the end of the report,
