This is a very unpredictable business to work in. A million things can go wrong and you'll spend your entire career trying to figure out how to deal with every crazy scenario that might happen.
My short term memory was terrible when I started doing this. I used to record everything, take a bunch of notes, etc. Now I how no problem remembering the details of an interaction and never record anymore.
You'll get comfortable with it. Give it a chance.
Also, If you were only given a first name and there are two people with the same first name there, that's not your fault. I'd have gone with whichever one they connected me with. If the MSC fought me on it, that would have been my last job for them. Evaluators make mistakes and admitting them is important, but MSC's also have to accept that they make mistakes too.
