I've heard you have to wait 6 months to switch between a mystery scenario vs revealed for gas stations. Is this true for every client? Is it across the board or just for repeat locations? I can understand that it would be hard to go back and be a mystery shopper at a station that you revealed yourself, but shouldn't it be easy to go the other way? Just asking, as the most profitable scenarios seem to shift monthly.
Totally depends on the MSC. For Maritz, once you do one type, you can't EVER do the other type. For Marketforce, I have reveals, then the following month, mystery shops, at the same location.
Absolutely true. I would SO much rather do MS than reveals -- but my first shop was a reveal, and now that's the only ones I am allowed to even SEE on the job boards.
That sucks for Maritz, especially since they don't tell you that when you pick your first gas station shop.
If this is true it's a change. When I did my first shop for them the job boar stated it clearly as did the rep on the phone before the shop got assigned.

When I did my first one, I was a newbie and didn't know there was even more than one type of MS!!! If they HAD told me (they didn't), I wouldn't have known what they meant.
I was doing ALOT for ALTA until June when I got a full time job. Some months I did both the mystery shops and full blown audits. When I was there on a mystery shop they often remembered me. We would make small talk and if they asked if I was "working" that day I would just say I was doing errands or something. I don't think they figured it out in the two years I was doing them.
