Speaking of car shops....

How are the targeted shops? I've never done one, but they have some available at a dealer less than 5 minutes away. Sounds like the $50 is worth it, but I've never made an appointment to look at a car, not when really looking for one (except if I see a specific car online and make an inquiry; then they usually ask you to make an appointment) and not when mystery shopping. I've had to make one after looking at a car and arranging to come back to drive it again or show it to my spouse, to make sure the salesperson will be on duty.

It sounds weird to me to make an appointment going in cold to a dealership. Is it? How do you answer the question if the salesperson asks how you got his/her name? I'd probably say that somebody gave his/her name to my husband, but, no, I don't know the person's name. And I'm wondering if getting hold of the target is as difficult as what I read here about reaching the target on apartment shops!

I've used a scenario that "I went out to play golf and met up with a couple others on the 4th tee and join them. We got to talking about cars and one of them recommended you. one of their names was Brian but I forget the other guys name". I had one salesperson go through all his notes trying to figure out who it was. He's probably still stumped.

Car salespersons are generally on commission. They are not difficult to get a hold of. As for the appointment, it doesn't have to be that formal.

"I'd like to come look at it, I can be there in about 30 minutes if you're available"

There are reasons that a body stays in motion

Have you applied and read the guidelines yet? It would make sense for the guidelines to cover how to contact the target.

As far as working with the target: there is always the possibility that when you arrive, the target is still busy with a previous customer so has another associate assist you.

Be prepared to support your cover story. The easiest one to flow with is saying you saw their name pop up when checking online reviews. It helps if you can find one so your story holds up. I ask my customers to use my full name if they post an online review.

I have done one once and it did not go so well. The targeted shop had become the finance manager and wasn't doing the selling or the showing of cars anymore. Oh, Boo Hoo! thing is they are still showing that shop with that person to be shopped. Probably never shop for them again.

I recently completed 4 of these shops. Got paid quickly, too. Here's how I handled it: call dealer and ask for target. If asked how you got their name ( they ask for marketing stats mainly ) just say your son/brother/ or ? mentioned their name and you are wondering if they can help you with a new vehicle purchase. Trust me, the salesperson is not about to quibble over how you got their name if they see a pot o gold at the end of a rainbow. If target not in, leave message but no details about how you got their name on recorder. I had no problems securing appointment and completing car shops. Remain in control. Easy shops for fair pay.
