Might be a silly question to all of you, but..

Can I perform shops early? The schedule says 8/20 -8/24. I requested 8/24 and that shows as my due date. If I’m able to get there on the 23rd, would I be able to do the shop? I’ve been doing the shops on the exact due date.

It isn't a silly question, but you haven't given enough information to get more than a really, really general answer. Are we talking Sassie, Prophet, ShopMetrics, isecretshop? Or one of the companies that has its own system, like Market Force? What company are you asking about?

MOST companies, yes, but not all. Usually a shop is offered between 8/20 and 8/24 and you pick a date. Sometimes, when assigned, your shop log (if it's Sassie) will show 8/24. In that case, NO, only the assigned date. Sometimes it will show 8/20-24 on the Shop Log. In that case, yes, for most MSCs. However, I have read recent posts from shoppers who showed a date range on their Shop Log but their shops were disallowed because they did the shop early. It just depends on the company and on how they are set up. If you have doubts, it's a good idea to contact the scheduler or stick to the due date.
If the assignment (not the announcement, the assignment that is on your job list) has a range of date, you can do it on any one of those dates. I am doing one today with a range of 7 days and today is the first day.

^^^ This.

I love the companies that allow a window of time rather than demand a specific date (and sometimes even a specific time). It is very helpful when you have to always juggle routing to be able to make this work pay off.
If your shop log shows a specific date, it’s always best to request a date change before shopping on a different date. Usually it won’t be a problem, but you run the risk of having the shop rejected if you shop a different date.

As you are uncertain, you definitely want to run it by your scheduler. It is very possible that your shop is the only one that is going to the store this week or month, in which case, it likely does not matter if you switch days. However, it is also common for locations to be shopped multiple times in a week and for their to be agreements between the MSC and client as to whether or not two shops can be done on the same day or if they need to be separated by a certain number of days. It is possible that a different shopper is scheduled for your location on the day before your scheduled shop, making the switch unacceptable. Of course, as a shopper, you may not have a way to know this without contacting the scheduler.

Just to be on the safe side, send an email to the scheduler, something like "I can do xxx job earlier than I requested, is it OK with you?"
Ok, so here’s another question that might be silly. Are IPSOS shops supposed to be done the day BEFORE the due date? I have one scheduled as due today but received and email this morning saying it’s overdue. I had 3 with them yesterday and all went well. I did not receive an overdue notice on those so I hope I haven’t done something incorrectly.

Did the email say you have a shop "close to due or overdue?" That is standard with Shopmetrics. It is also irritating because most of us will just see overdue at first glance.

Are you sure it doesn’t say, “due or close to overdue”?
No, it’s due on the final date of the range.
It’s says it’s 10 hours overdue in the email.

I’d like to just have ONE day of shops that don’t include an issue. lol

Ipsos shops usually have a date range available, but not always. Additionally, the due dates also have a time frame they are due. Usually it is posted in military time, but not always on that either. So if a shop was due by 8/22 at 22:00 then it would be due by 10 PM. I'm not entirely sure if they are EST or PST or some other time zone as I'm on a phone. Sometimes it is in tiny print under the due date and you barely notice it says 09:00 hours. Can be frustrating if a location is known to be open later and you were going to do it on an evening route. Been there with those overdue emails.

That seem strange... If you submit it on the due date, you should be fine. ... I have received errant "late" messages before, so it could be that.

That sounds like someone manually entered the due date and time, and accidentally put 8/21 12:00AM, which would make it overdue in the system. I would send an email to let them know you got the overdue email. Those are automatically sent and it could cause your shop to get automatically canceled.
For the IPSOS. Did you happen to input it on MobiAudit and then forget to hit Submit once it reloaded. I have done that before.

Totally depends on your MSC, for instance, Service Sense and DJC gives a few days and one is able to do any of those days and enter within 24 hours., while Mercantile and Customer Impact want it done excatly on the day you say you will do it, unless you change date with the scheduler.

Live consciously....
Even within the particular MSC this can vary. The only person who can really confirm if you can go over the spread of dates showing is your scheduler.
