I'm perfectly fine doing Shell, but I prefer EM to it, simply because of the interior requirements of Shell. I don't mind it if the Shell has a larger store, but when we're talking about some small store that sells five things, you can pretty much get everything in one picture, yet you need five, two interior, two product selection, and third interior since there is probably no food offer. And avoid overlap when doing that! EM is much simpler inside, where mainly you are looking for infractions, only. Though right now my V route is my favorite. Happy to add those decals for the extra $5 per shop! (Haven't had to add many).

I think we're talking about a different MSC.

Hi all. I schedule gas stations shops for New Image Marketing. We do not require many photos at all. We pay be pay pal or check. I can tell the people on this thread have a real eye for detail. Here is a link below. Thank you

I rarely do the ones with the potentially large number of pics. Someone can remind me of this: is it acceptable to use one image that shows multiple conditions instead of taking separate images for every possible infraction? For example, is it acceptable to use the pump island pics for the island view as well as a dirty canopy, if the one image shows this? If the same image also shows potholes or stains, can the one image be used yet again for those conditions?

It depends on the shop, but the vast majority of gas station shops I have done require a unique photo for each infraction. Using the same photo more than once is not allowed.
I have never done one of these, but what would happen if you took a photo including several infractions and cropped it in different ways to focus on the individual issues?
The MSC wants separate photos for each infraction and you would be asking to have a hold put on your shop if you cropped the same shot for several infractions. Beside that, it would be quicker to take separate photos than to edit and crop, IMO.
@DawnHunt What do they pay? More importantly, what are they willing to pay?
I haven’t taken a gas station for less than $25 in years. I’m willing to take a ton for a reasonable rate.

New Image. Love 'em! Not much in my area usually but they have reveal and mystery. Mysteries are so simple I will do them at base pay if they are near where I am going. Self-assign makes route planning easy. Never a problem with pay or editors.
@sestrahelena What do you mean by "full blown audit?" They only have one unrevealed gas audit that I've seen and it takes like 12 minutes.

New Image doesn't seem to have anything in my area. I find Alta nice to work with but the pay is sucky.
Hoju, Alta has quite a few gas brands and projects in my area. They range from mystery with required unreimbursed purchase (starting at $4 pay) to mystery with reveal, photos (inside and out, each pump, etc.), unreimbursed purchase starting at $7. Near the end of the quarter they add a dollar or 2 bonus. So sad.

I really think they must pay their route shoppers a whole lot more. There are tons of two brands they do here in my area and somehow they all get done. I don't even do the one station half a mile from me on my way out of town for that amount.

Alta fees are definitely not worth it. Only did the one when I was out of town visiting an extended part of the family and I wanted an excuse to have to leave the house for a bit.

The blue and red gas station MSC doesn't have a working app for those type of shops,(though I'd like to be the person they have been paying for at LEAST two years to get it right).

Although it has messed up on me a few times, the Blue & Red app does (mostly) work. I use the app on those, the green ones, and the yellow ones. Not sure about Blue yet. Oh, and it works on the Green and Yellow, too.

Shell and E/M have very similar photo requirements now. The different is the reporting flow. Having to click “this pump does not exist” on 20 questions if there are only four pumps is stupid when they could just do what Shell does and ask how many pumps there are. Then there’s the painful process of selecting every sticker or pop that is or is not on each pump.
I still prefer Shell to E/M.

Agree 100%!!!! I get so mad at "this pump does not exist!"
Hi everyone. I just happened to see a couple of the last posts about all the narrative boxes. For most (maybe not all of the clients), the narrative boxes are just there in case you need to make a comment for a, "NO" question. Otherwise, you do not need to put in a narrative in all of those boxes. When you submit the report, it will tell you if you are missing a required comment. I have scheduled many of these gas station shops, and narratives are rare. I hope this helps!
Please feel free to PM me to let me know which particular opportunity this one is for. I will be happy to look and see if it is the type that does not need narrative. There are a few clients that do require a sentence or two to confirm the answers, but most of our gas stations do not. The audits might though, so please PM me and I will be able to confirm. The funny thing is that many years ago, I did a shop as a shopper for a gas station with this same company, and I did the same thing with putting a sentence comment for every box, and it drove me nuts! I then found out it wasn't needed. lol!
Thanks! smiling smiley
