Worth Getting Data Plan to Do More Shops - Revisited

I saved a lot of money when I switched my family plan from AT&T to T- Mobile unlimited. They have discounts for seniors and mi.itary and veterans. They even provide international data roaming at no extra cost. I know coverage is an issue for some but I’ve had no problems.

If you live and travel in an area with T Mobile access my friend has a "family plan" which includes up to 10 people who do not have to be family. Aside from her own family she has 6 other friends using it as family members. I convinced her she should charge them a piece of the monthly base price mainly because every one of them has more income than she does so now they pay her $20 each. I asked at T Mobile and they have 2G each of their own data plus unlimited talk and text..There is a fee for going over and she told me none of them ever do. T Mobile told me they do not bother charging if you go over by just a smallish amt. She had no problem finding others willing to join her family to have a plan like this for $20 a month total.
I would recommend that you try a limited gig plan and if it does not work and you are constantly buying extra data most plans allow an upgrade to a more expensive plan even within your contract. So go slow and try out 2 gigs or 3 if it is cheaper than unlimited.

The price of data and unlimited data in particular used to be quite offputting to me. However, it has steadily been coming down as the big 4 try to compete with each other. I personally love Cricket. It's the AT&T equivalent of Metro PCS but they use AT&T towers which are better in my neck of the woods. The coverage is awesome (here) and the customer service in the store is awesome as well. I had 6 GB but got tired of always checking my data. I got an invitation last week to upgrade to unlimited. I got both of us (spouse and me) unlimited for $80 per month. For just me it would have been $55. I consider that affordable. I use apps for everything possible and in particular I like reporting gas stations with my phone so that I"m done when I leave the site. I gotta say I love not worrying about my data.
I pay roughly $54 per month for 2 GBs of data with VZW. I only went over once when I forgot to turn on wifi after I disabled it. It also gives me some roll over for the next month. I use a lot of apps on the road and prefer to not be connected to wifi in most stores 'cause I don't think it's secure. Of course, this does not include a monthly charge for my Samsung Galaxy that is paid off in full. I always use wifi at home. I do not watch movies, stream TV or or listen to music on my phone, unless I'm home. There are some better deals out there, but I like VZW coverage and service.

Verizon is awesome. My bill went up when I added my Dad to my family plan. It was hard to gauge how much data they use. I called Verizon and explained the situation. They put me on a cheap, unlimited data plan for no extra cost.

Their coverage is great. The only thing I don't like about them is the cost of their phones. I always get mine from eBay.

Yall got jokes.

I am dead dog serious. My Xfinity box was hacked. PPV movies were charged to my account, sometimes when I was home! They told me to put a PIN on my account. Done. PIN removed, account hacked.

It got stressful to watch TV. I never had these problems with Verizon.

Don't use 1234 as a pin.

LOL! No, I didn't. But even still, how did someone not in my house have my cable box over and over? My purchase PINS were deactivated. It got stressful to watch TV.

I have Boost at $30/mo. With 3GB which I never fully use. If I did it would just slow down. No extra charge. I use home & other wifi whenever possible. How did I get a low price you ask? Haggle! I had been with them a while when Metro PCS started advertising $30/mo. It was only 1GB included but I skipped that tidbit of info when I called Boost and asked, "Are you going to give me the price Metro offers or am I going to switch?" Just like the satellite companies, they negotiated to keep me.
My Dad had Boost mobile for a good monthly price. He and my Mom travel a lot. He didn't always get a good signal, and I needed to be able to reach them. I have my Mom on my family plan with Verizon. I added him and gave him my old Samsung. My bill was fluctuating with 3 people using 3GB of data. I called Verizon for help. They gave me an unlimited plan AND lowered my bill.

I use Assist wireless and I get unlimited text and talk with 2GB for $0.00 because I am on the sick lame a lazy list that is maintained by Social Security. I also use FreedomPop out of Calif. for my other phone for $29.99 which I am getting ready to drop. They are using Voice Over Internet Protocol for phone calls. And I always get that messaging has stopped. So I am close to dropping it.
My cell phone is a prepaid TracFone that I use primarily for business purposes. I get texts and calls from MSCs (as well as my other IC work), use only work-related apps and the camera, and use it to input data while I'm on site. I buy a new phone every year from QVC or HSN that includes a year of service, 1500 minutes, 1500 texts, and 1.5GB of data; this runs around $100, which is not much more than the cost of purchasing a one-year service renewal. I usually buy 1-2GB of data per month ($10-$20) and occasionally need to top up on minutes ($15 or so). This keeps my costs between $10-$35 per month, plus the unused portion rolls over infinitely.

I got a similar deal with a TracFone on ebay recently for $50 plus sales tax. It included an LG phone, 1200 min and 1200 texts and the same gigs, 1year. They gave me service through Verizon. Check there next year and save $50.
We get Tracfones too on the yearly deals with the text, data and minutes bundled. It's an unbelievable deal. I would never pay over $100 a year again ever for the bundle. Not worth it. I'm not sure why people pay the $150, $200, $250 for the same/similar bundle. The phone may be better but how many people really need the souped up specs ? And not all Tracfones are the same quality. I noticed one from QVC had really poor reviews because some people said ads kept popping up while on the other shopping channel it had good reviews without the same problems.

I'll have to check out Ebay. $50 ? That would be a steal !
I get all of my Samsungs from eBay. They are activated for Verizon and new. I pay about $200 and I take it to VZW for the SIM card. This way, I don't pay the fee to buy the phone from them, and my bill is the same (no lease).

1,500 texts a YEAR?!?!
I do that in about two weeks... my husband does that in less than a week.
Some people are not power users for text and data so the tracfone is perfect for them.
I have the old unlimited plan from Verizon where data is about $50/month. My husband has 2GB for $30/month, and I have my mom and step-dad's basic phones on the plan. The calls are unlimited. My bill is $225/month for the four phones.

My bill is $100 total for 1 year which includes 5.7" phone(I own as part of my plan), 1500 texts, 1500 minutes talk and 1.5GB data.
You can get unlimited date from T-mobile for like $50 plus tax. There are other operators for less. And I don't think you need that much data to shop.

I don't text anyone except schedulers.
I'm on the family plan and every month I kept blowing through my data before the month ended. I now have unlimited and I just pay $20 extra. I refuse to go back. I use my phone for ore than MSing. I use it to listen to Youtube videos, talk on my forums, and my GPS. I also use my wifi hotspot for my laptop.
SimpleMobile vs. MetroPCS??
Want to switch from my $50.00 pay as you go monthly TMobile to one of the two above which are owned by T Mobile and I can use my phone without needing a new sim card.
Seeking unlimited calls and text BUT
which provider gives a better data plan please? Many Thanks !!
