Is it legit?

Just got an email from sassie.com saying to follow the link to change my password.

"Back in October of 2017 we upgraded the password mechanism to require STRONG passwords. Since then we have been requiring that you update your password to a strong password whenever you update your profile. If you haven't updated your profile since then you may not have updated your password. As of today we are now requiring that all accounts have STRONG passwords. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

Yes, I am having a long-term problem with Sassie and passwords. Anyone know if this is a legit email?

Mine specified Hilli-Dunlap....are they still in business?????

ETA: I just went to the Official List of MSCs here, and clicked on the link to Hilli-Dunlap. When I attempted to go to their site via the link provided, I got this message:

403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

But the link to Hilli-Dunlap in my email LOOKS LIKE the usual Sassie link, but I have not -- and WILL NOT -- click on the link.

Seems suspicious to me..........not clicking on it. Why would Hilli-Dunlap alone contact me. If this was a TRUE Sassie concern, then why wouldn't Jack from Sassie come post a note here or send an email from himself to all Sassie users???

Furthermore, once in a while, I have clicked on a Sassie company that I haven't been on in a while, and AT THAT TIME, if the site says I need to update my password, I've done it then. But I've NEVER received an unsolicited email ahead of time from ANY Sassie MSC asking me to click on a link to go update my password. I certainly wouldn't worry about it. Just ignore it. If you need to update a password, when you log on, you will be so informed.

This is curiouser and curiouser. Wonder if HDE got hacked. Perhaps a real person at Sassie will see this post. I have had problems with Sassie passwords on other MSCs for months. The MSCs have reported back that all is fine at their end.

Never click a email link to update your password or personal information. Just use your bookmarks or otherwise search for the website. From there log in as normal to access whatever you need to change.

Hi folks - You RANG?? winking smiley

Jack from SASSIE here. This IS indeed a legit email for all shoppers who have an account on the SASSIE system for HDE (Hilli Dunlap), who IS actively conducting shops on our platform.

It’s definitely smart to verify the legitimacy of any emails before you start clicking on any of its links (but please forward all emails from Nigerian princes straight to me b/c I can definitely use an additional $10,000 to spend on holiday shopping!!). Two ways you can get some assurance that the email IS from us:

1) I’ve posted an announcement on our official corporate website at this link verifying the details of that email: [site.sassieshop.com]

Note that “[site.sassieshop.com]” is our corporate website (where information about SASSIE lives) whereas “[sassieshop.com]” is our application website (i.e. where the actual SASSIE system lives).

2) If you actually try to log into your HDE shopper account at [www.sassieshop.com] you’ll see that your login has failed, indicating that we have indeed put the new password requirement into place.

Note that being locked out of your user account is not 100% proof that any emails you receive about that account are legitimate (this is why we posted the announcement mentioned in #1).

Hope that helps - Happy Shopping!

Jack, thank you so much. I knew the forum readers would come through for me. Your information is timely and informative. On the password issue, I have several accounts that use Sassie. For months now, when I log in I get this:

Sorry, couldn't find an account matching the supplied credentials. You can :
1. Verify that this is the correct SASSIE account for this login
(many accounts look alike - this is the login page for SERVICESENSE)
2. Try again
3. Use the Email Password Function
4. Send an email to staff@servicesense.com

I have to keyboard the password in. Once I do that, I am in the system. (The account is active etc.)

I have reset my password numerous times and clicked the "save password" prompt on my Windows 10/Firefox. With longer, more complex passwords, I would love to be able to save these as I had been able to do.

Jack, any suggestions? (I have emailed the MSCs and none has an answer for me.) Thanks again.

Pua, thanks for bringing it up. It looks legitimate, but I never signed up with the MSC.

Pua,
That must be so annoying! Definitely sounds like a browser specific issue, as you probably know.

I do know that the naming of login fields in SASSIE happened before there was standard naming of login fields - the standard naming helps browsers properly store your login info so it's definitely possible that Firefox doesn't know to take what you're entering and save it into the right email address and password "slots" for future use.

Two things to try:
1) Try another browser and see if that browser is better at saving your login info for future logins. While you probably don't want to switch your browser of choice just for SASSIE, this would at least verify that it's a Firefox issue as opposed to a some other issue (account issue, computer- level issue, other password saving utility issue)

2) Go into your saved logins for Firefox and find one of your SASSIE logins and manually update the information there.

Hope that helps!
Jack
We are told over and over again to not click links in emails. So why do legitimate companies continue to put them there? If they all refused to do that and instead instructed you to go to their normal (bookmarked) web site before logging in it would help deter the scams. We shouldn’t have to determine if the email is legit before clicking on a link. Just don’t do it and companies, don’t put them in your emails.
