Need solid advice

I was assigned some shops with very large bonuses. As in the bonuses were as much as the original shop fee. The guidelines were clear that you must pass a test controlled by the client in order to conduct the shops and that if the tests were not passed you could not conduct the shops. This was also stated in the printed guidelines. Unfortunately I missed one question and did not pass.

Because the MSC said that they could not see the exams or the results I emailed them directly and let them know that I did not pass the tests and therefore could not complete the shops as listed in the guidelines. I received an email from a scheduler saying that special arrangements have been made for me to complete the shops any way and to go ahead and do them. Even though they are a good distance from my home I was willing to do them because of the large bonuses but now I am uncomfortable because the guidelines are clear that you cannot conduct the shops if you do not pass the tests which are controlled and viewed by the client not the MSC. Please advise.

If you have it in writing from the MSC that you can conduct the shops, you will be good. If you only got it verbally, ask for an email confirmation.

Also... I have never seen such a test that you are not permitted to retake. (I haven't seen everything, but...)

I don't know which MSC this is, but if they are saying you are fine, then you are good to go. I once had an MSC say I took a test when I did not because they needed it done and the system was having technical issues.
I'm pretty sure this is the technology shop with a MSC who is in the top 15, though low on the list.

I self assigned the shop. I failed the test three times. I emailed the scheduler and asked to be removed and pointed out the test errors. The shop was removed.

Today, I too received the "go ahead" email, and it also stated that the shop I tried to pass the test for was due that evening.

After receiving the confusing email, I went back and forth for two hours with the scheduler, attempting to get her to understand what the "go ahead" email implied. She apologized, but never gave a definitive reply.

From what I gathered and assumed, there was a glitch with the certification test and the shops were open to self assign for those who failed the test.

I think.
....So, if these are the same shops, my solid advice is to proceed with caution. I, however, will not be completing them.
Always...Always get it in writing...if you do these shops...keep in mind..it is ultimately the client who decides if they will accept the shop.

Not the schedulers

I decided to pass. I never do a shop if not getting paid will aggravate or inconvenience me. losing my time and gas for the shop if I don't get paid will make me very upset. Thank you for your advice guys.
I had the exact same experience yesterday, and I think this was on the same round of shops that have been mentioned here. I am certain that my guideline answers were correct, but the test also included demographic questions that I might not have met. In any case, I asked for the shop to be removed. I agree with the cautionary comments made earlier, too.
Since no client has been named, please name the MSC so that all members will be forewarned about this potential issue. This is valuable info if we know the MSC.

After re reading your post..

If special arrangements means that the scheduler spoke with the client and the client okayed it..then I would proceed with the shop only after getting that statement specifically in writing

(That the client okayed it)

The scheduler wasn't specific about what special arrangements have been made. I just didn't want to risk it and when I feel that uncomfortable going into a shop I prefer to pass.

The one I speak of is BeyondHell/SeeLevel
I agree that they are fair. I asked straight out. I received a far, far from straight answer. In fact, my questions were not answered at all. The only positive result was me learning which project and scheduler to avoid. After 7 emails, with questions that were not addressed, I was told I was sent the wrong initial email.

The initial email was, in fact, referring to the exact same shop I applied to. Not a single different thing. Anyone see my post on the top three things I learned from this forum? #1 Schedulers lie

But this could be a different MSC from that which @MysteryMaven speaks of. We shall see.

Edited to add the middle paragraph

Very large bonuses are multiples of the original shop fee. Double is merely a decent bonus.

As for your question. If the scheduler said it was ok I would have just done it and assumed she fixed the incorrect answer for me and resubmitted it.

Or more likely didn't care about the test to begin with.

The MSC was not in a position to alter the test because the test was administered and controlled by the client. And a large bonus is relative to the person receiving it. Thanks for all of the relevant input guys
