How do you not feel cheap not making a purchase?

^Those that send a photo of purchase to adult daughter, neighbor, sister and are told it's ugly or a duplicate gift and needs to be returned ASAP!
If I'm returning the item within the same day if not same hour the price is not a factor if it's a $35.00 box of candy or $79.00 sweater. VISA doesn't care

Do you never step out of a store without making a purchase in your real life? Even when I shop for something I want or need, often I leave without buying for any number of reasons. Wrong sizes, colors, styles, prices, quality, just not feeling it, etc. If I bought something in every store I ever stepped foot in, I'd be buried alive under merchandise! I never feel guilty for not spending my money, regardless of whether the sales people have done a good job or not. I only spend my money on things that I want.
I never feel guilty on a mystery shop about not buying for all the above reasons. But in real life, in the past few days I have returned to the same store a few times as I have a reward from there to spend...it is a shoe store and I wear a size 11. Any other women out there who wear a size 11 shoe will know how frustrating it is to find anything you like in that size. And I am feeling bad about being there browsing in hopes they have something new. The salesperson even told me they will gladly order in my size but I do not want to get a bunch of shoes to just try on and find they are not right and then return them. Shoes that look cute in a size 8 look like I am wearing a boat on my feet usually. I am not a big enough person to match my foot size. In any case you can try to come up with a scenario similar to my foot size one to fit your shopping needs so you truly cannot find what you need.
For the most part I find that most stores I go into, especially the high $$$ ones, have salespersons just standing around most of the day with no customers...even in Beverly Hills where you would think they are busy...I feel I am giving them something to do to relieve the boredom and a topic to speak about at the dinner table.
Remember that the associates are getting paid. They get paid whether or not you make a purchase. They are doing their jobs by assisting you and then they are getting paid regardless of whether you make a purchase. The times I feel a bit uncomfortable about not making a purchase is when shopping auto dealerships. The sales people in those place are often paid on commission only.
