Ignore it. Definitely don't respond. If for some reason you are required to go back play dumb. I had a bank CSR say, "Thank you for the great report. You were the mystery shopper." I looked confused and said, "No one has ever told me that I am a mysterious shopper. What does that mean?" He blushed, told me that it didn't matter and that he must have been mistaken.
There is a hamburger chain where I suspected that they knew I was one of the mystery shoppers. When i arrived, windows and floors and chairs suddenly started getting cleaned. Someone came over and spoke to me and other customers. But they never said a word, and instead did what I thought was smart, they made sure to provide excellent service. I sometimes went in when I wasn't on a shop just to confuse them. I did the same thing with a bank branch where I suspected that a teller had "fingered" me. I went in at other times to try to confuse them. The exact opposite is the cut-it-up pizza chain. they seem to delight in reporting that they have identified a shopper. It happened to me in one location, and the MSC told me that I couldn't do the shop again. I would subsequently go there occasionally on my own dime. Must have driven them crazy.
