Note to self, use fake numbers....

I do a few loan apps every three months or so with no credit check that I enjoy and make me a few bucks. For the first time ever one of the places called me and tried to hard sell me a loan. Son of a gun, fake phone numbers from now on.

Has anyone else every gotten a call? The only way to get off was to tell him I signed papers with one of the other companies (lucky I remember the names). If you are wondering, my wife picked up, and she would not have known it was a shopped bank, she just saw a bank and thought it might have been important.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to use a fake number. That is, one where I could receive the follow-up call.

My neighbor uses Google Voice or something, and says he'll teach me how.
That is what I use also, I looked up "how to set up google voice as second number on cell phone" on the internet, there were a few good videos/tutorials on how to do it. I now use google voice for all my voice mail (even my main number) because it texts you what the voice mail says.

GoogleVoice is awesome! I have a second number which I need to remember to give out for mystery shopping tasks..

The voicemail to text is one of the most helpful things EVER. I don't even have to open them to listen anymore because it's so easy to just read them!
@ceasesmith you can also download "burner phone" apps for free. Set the ringtone to be different so you are more aware of who is calling. You don't have to answer it (unless for a required call back).
Google voice. You can set it up to ring to your real number and disconnect it later. I also remember an old phone number if I need to give one but there’s not a follow up required. Also, getting a $20 pre-paid phone is a good option because you can check messages, but leave it turned off otherwise.
I love Google Voice! Been using it for over a year. I even have my main phone's voicemail going straight to Google Voice's voicemail so it types out the voicemail and texts it to me. Love it! It always works and I filter spam calls through it.
