Notary Shops

Does anyone know if Bank of America charges non-customer for notary service? The shop only pays $15 and if they charge to do it there does to be reimbursement.

Did that shop months back and that bank did not charge for notary service. Just to be safe, call and ask before taking the assignment...

In my area BoA requires an appointment for the notary service.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I was a non-customer when I completed my last one a few years back, and I was not charged.
I did two and was not charged. I needed an appointment for both, so call first.

In some states, you must be a customer of either BofA or Merrill Lynch in order for BofA to notarize anything. i think the pre-request instructions note that. I am a customer, and I do these whenever I am eligible (once every 90 days and never at the same location, the shop instructions are not clear about the rotation requirements, but you will not be able to sign up again unless 90 days have passed). In, NJ, PA, and DE, being a customer is required by BofA.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
This generalization is incorrect. In some states, BofA limits notary services to customers of BofA and Merrill Lynch. Those states are: AR, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, IL, KS, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA.

No, banks are not allowed to charge for notary services and they are open to the public,

For that shop, the MSC supplies you with the paper to be notarized.

Therein lies the rub. If I could take my own document which actually NEEDED to be notarized, the shop might be worth it (B of A charges here.)

Alas, I had one who looked at the form I had pre-signed and and went ahead and notarized it without comment. I did not know them. In the other cases of pre-signed forms, they make me sign it again in their presence.

Aren't there absolutely zero BofA notary publics who would notarize a pre-signed form? These are one and done so for $12 it's a no go.

That is what they are checking for that you actually sign the document in their presence.
