Dirtying shoes for a shine shop?

I'm shopping a chain of shoe shine booths on a regular basis. I only have two "nice" shoes that would be appropriate for this shop, and it's a challenge keeping them from always being shiny! I've been walking them through dusty fields or puddles in order to get them dirty enough so that it seems credible that I'd need a shine. Any suggestions on how to scruff them up without causing permanent damage would be welcome!

I agree with you. I have had to do several shoe shine shops at the airports. I don't use my good shoes. I have a pair that I scuff up on the cement. Not easy! Even bring a pair with you.
Yup. I keep an extra pair in the car, the pair I use to take out the trash, etc. Plenty dirty and in need of a shine!
