Slow Wi-Fi: I curse you!

I had a three hour break between my last video shop (valet parking) and my evening casino shop. This was plenty of time to find a Starbucks, take a breather and take care of that report. Of course, I found the one area in the vicinity of Seattle without a proper Starbucks within 20 minutes (traffic). So, I am sipping a diet soda at a McDonald's and cursing their brutally slow wi-fi connection. If I just had to write a report it would not be a big deal. However, that valet shop has four video files needing to be uploaded. #@?! After 15 minutes, the files are 3% uploaded. Curses!

If the speed does not pick up a little, I'll have to bail, simply write the report, and upload the files from home later tonight. Ugh. I so wanted to have all my reports (save the casino) done before I got home.... I hate slow wi-fi...

Best to Google for a library. They usually have fast wifi. Many leave it on after they close at night and it can be accessed in the parking lot from the comfort of your mobile office.

ETA no purchase necessary!

Victory! I already have twice as much uploaded from the library connection as I did after 50 minutes at McDonald's!!!!

That requires that the cell signal be really strong.... I do have a great cell phone plan - but it's still not ideal for uploading 2GB of video files.

Isn't there a lot of money to be made with video shops? That should buy you an all you can eat phone plan with plenty of G's.

21 minutes to upload 2 Gigs... That's MUCH better.... I will have my reports done before my last shop! I am totally going to remember to look for libraries.

I find this hard to believe! Hahahaha
It's right by the airport.... Nearly every Starbucks was inside the airport... The only one close by was inside a Safeway and did not have a seating area.

Apple stores and other mall stores have pretty good wifi. The Verizon stores have wifi signals that extend to the parking lots.

what no Seattle's Best Coffee locations much better than crappy Starbucks. Anyhow libraries are great for both wifi and free computer usage and most you can use to print stuff for 10 to 20 cents a page if needed. Fastfood restaurants can vary chain to chain and location to location on wifi speed.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.

Yes! I am often not alone in the lot after hours and young-uns are there on phones/laptops in the evening. Not so much in the wee hours.
I live in a small town. The library is across the street from a large square, kind of like a mini park. The parking lot is half full every day from people parked using the wifi from the library.
I find many public Wi-Fi sites to be slower than my cell service with TMobile so I just turn off my Wi-Fi when at Starbucks, McDonalds etc. . Helps to have unlimited data.
With T-Mobile I've found that my LTE data is slowed if I am connected to WiFi (for example, in a McDonalds parking lot, did not log into McDonalds but my phone still connected to their system). I turn off wifi when I need fast LTE and it works.

If you're ever truly desperate, you can usually connect from a Target parking lot as well. The closer to the store you park, the stronger the signal. And there's always McDonald's, though you may have to ask for the code.
For the most part all the accessible networks are great.... however, many do not have adequate speed for uploading video - which is what got me...

Another handy tool -- speedtest.net. You can test upload (and download) speeds before committing to uploading a large file They do have an iphone app...
