Fairly new to secret shopping - very new to this board - I attempted to conduct a shop - complied with the directions called days before to get the schedule. I got to the shop and it was closed - I took a pic of the closed shop and put it in my report (uploading the closed store everywhere that needed a photo) I emailed the scheduler to let them know of the situation. They are saying they can not pay me as they can only pay if a shop is completed and offered to take the shop off my requests and I could re-request it. I explained that I verified hours for the day I was to shop and was given the hours - and was there well before closing (2 1/2 hours prior) and they stopped responding. I believe I should be paid for my time and gas (this was a low paying shop - $10) Am I wrong to ask for payment? Disheartened
I had a situation where this shop had posted hours and decided to open and close whenever they felt like it. I called the day before to verify they would be open, and they said they opened at 8:00 AM. I got there at 9:30 AM. Closed. The MSC dinged me. Not only did I not get paid, but it was a mark on my record. I also took a picture of the closed shop. This was for 360 intel.
Good luck. This was for thr isecretshop app, abd it messed up my rating for other companies. They did not pay me. They said I needed to call and make sure they were open. I explained exactly what happened. They could not care and I had negative feedback from them placed on the app.
Right under your name on the isecretshop app you have a reputation level. You won't see points, but a level indicator. They give you points per job, and can take away points (like i360 did with me).
It's disappointing but I would just move on and maybe not shop for them anymore. Some MSC's just won't pay for shops that are closed even if it is out of your control and you took all the steps to check the hours.
@Niner I don't feel like most of the schedulers/MSCs on iSecretShop actually care that much about your reputation level or all of the badges. Most of the shops are self-assign anyways.
Shop On, Sounds like you did everything right, but unfortunately, the place was closed. You don't mention which MSC shut you down. If you're comfortable doing so, let us know the MSC. Some MSCs pay 50%; or $3; or full fee, others . . .
If you haven't yet, check their terms for closed locations. Fingers crossed that you get something.

Your ability to self assign depends on your reputation level.
Fight some more. Remind them that it is a contractual obligation to pay for work completed and that you fulfilled your end of the contract. If there is not language for this exact situation, then you deserve to get paid.
Some will say its not worth it for $10, but it's your time and money and I wouldn't allow myself to be treated that way.
