BB&T and SunTrust Merger

Both banks are shopped. BB&T shops are $14. SunTrust shops are $80. I wonder which program will be kept?

Which company is the surviving company, i.e dba? Regardless, I'd put my money on the lowest common denominator!
BB&T is buying Suntrust, so my guess is the $14 shops will multiply in availability but the $80 will disappear. Suntrust shops also seem more prevalent on a monthly basis, at least right now.
jrich, the notifications I received from both companies said it was a merger. Why do you say BB&T is buying SunTrust?

BB&T is my primary bank. I did a few shops with SunTrust, so I'm in both databases.

The merger was announced as a merger of equals. While doing a recent BB&T shop, the CSR told me that it was a merger of equals and that once completed, neither name would survive, that they would be picking a new name for the merged entity. I can't imagine that the $80 shop and the $14 shop are for the same information or require the same amount of work. If they are the same, amount of work then I will bet $14 that the $14 shop fee survives! smiling smiley

It may be billed as a merger of equals, but technically... it’s not.

“The yet to be named bank that emerges from the planned acquisition by BB&T Corporation (BBT) of SunTrust (STI) in an all-stock deal (1.295 BBT shares for each STI share) will be the sixth largest bank in the US.”

The $14 shop is a banker inquiry. The $80 shop is an account opening.

$14 is IMHO slightly low, but I do them. I would open an account for $80. Maybe they will keep both.

The $14 shop is low, but the report is easy and the locations are very accessible. They are up there with cell phone shops for me.
