PO shop question...

Hi everyone, I have a question. I have done hundreds of PO shops over the last few years but had an issue at one of my shops a few days ago and wonder if any of you have had this situation... I was charged less than normal for a PO shop and thought it was due to the clerk charging me first class instead of priority. I noted it on my report but then the editor let me know today it was because it was rang up under weight. The item actually wasn’t under weight as I always ship a 1 pound bag of rice to make sure its the right weight but I do notice now that the receipt says its under a pound so it appears the clerk didn’t weigh it correctly. I always check the receipt but it was my error that I checked it and thought it was charged wrong due to the shipping not the weight. Anyways, I apologized for the error and offered to re-shop the location as I feel bad because I didn’t check the receipt as closely as I usually do. I feel awful as I am usually so careful not to make any mistakes on my shops/reports and I’ve never had a rejected shop from any company. I emailed and waiting on a response if I can re-shop the location, have any of you had any luck in being able to re-shop a location with them? Thanks!

Was it still shipped Priority? I had one once that was an ounce under and was told that the 1# minimum has a built in ounce or two variance. This was a couple/few years ago when it was with the other company. Good luck! I'm hoping they'll accept it and you won't have to reshop.
Yes it was shipped priority. I am fine with re-shopping, I let them know I will actually be near this location again this week so have no problem if they want me to. Thanks for your response!
I have had the scales be off by as much as a pound. I've had no issue reshopping. However, now I look at the screen now carefully to be sure of weight and shipping method before I pay so that I can grab my package back if needed.
Good to hear.. I usually look at it and this time I looked at it wrong thinking it was the shipping method not the weight but I’m definitely going to pay closer attention going forward.. Thanks for your response!
You probably know, but this is not like a normal situation of being undercharged. I mean, you can always be honest about being undercharged. On mystery shops, I usually don’t correct these things.

It’s just that packages with insufficient postage can be returned or delivered postage due. So there’s an added reason why a normal person would want to be certain of proper weight.
It is good to know the amount you will be paying ahead of time so that when a different price is quoted you can ask why. I just say that I usually send stuff to the person (kid in college, grandchild, whatever) and it costs $xxx. You can also ask curiously what the scale reads. If it's weighing too little, say you forgot to include something then take it outside, add some rocks from around the corner (off camera) and re-tape. Yes, keep tape in the car. But, I have also weighed in too light and not caught it. The MSC was very gracious when I offered to fix my mistake by reshopping.
Different PO question:

A package on a HAZMAT shop, supposedly containing a battery, is shipped with $50.00 insurance...…
Package is lost or damaged but of course what is inside is not a battery as receipt claims nor a box of pasta worth $1.49 but a $30.00 T shirt or something else of value worthy of filing a claim.

Are we SOL or can a genuine claim be filed?
Good question. Just be aware that you'll have to have the original receipt for the t-shirt.

You might ask the MSC. They may have something in the ICA or shop guidelines that prohibit filing a claim. Just to be on the safe side, I would ask them.

Yes you can file a claim.
You don’t need an original receipt. You just need to prove value. You can show comps from Amazon, eBay, retailers websites.

Source: been there done that.
I’ve had vintage glassware or collectibles break. I had no receipt.
I have had experience in filing claims, both in person at the local post office, and on-line.

Both required a receipt to prove the value of what I shipped.

However, rules DO change, and my experience was some time in the past.
