No more hotel points credited for stays, sad news

One of the hotel chains that merged early last year, but is still shopping is not crediting shoppers for hotel points. As sad is it is, the pay is often too low for the amount of work, and I often take these jobs for the hotel points, which can really add up. Just a friendly note, so you do not do several of these and then realize that you will not be getting any points. Its the smaller of the two mergers that occurred last year.

There are at least 3 MSC's that shop hotels for this company. A little more information is needed.

smaller of the two? There were two hotel mergers last year?

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
SPG/Marriott and La Quinta/Wyndham are the only two hotel mergers I can think of that happened last year. I assume you're talking about La Quinta/Wyndham?

What do you mean that there are at least 3 MSC's that shop hotels for this company? I am a little confused by your reply. And sorry I added the hotel chain as long as that's allowed, I was not sure.
@helpmehelpyou With one of the hotel mergers, multiple MSCs shop that company. There's not one MSC that does all the shops for that company. You can add the hotel chain as long as you don't mention the MSC.

Different companies had Marriott shops before the merger. Probably relates to independently owned properties making their own arrangements.

I imagine that reimbursed shops will still receive points. I was surprised to get points with a direct credit card refund. The perk of earning status is a draw when the fee is low. It will be interesting to see how this works out.
Accor points are pretty valuable compared to other hotel programs. Too bad they have almost no transfer partners and no way to gain massive amounts of points other than through stays.

I knew of one company that did Fairmont bar shops but I see recently another company has added an overnight stay. I'm excited to evaluate the overnight stay as I generally like their hotels.
So, are we sure about this? The last time I stayed at the bigger of the merged hotels on my own dime, it took well over a week before I got my points.

I missed the part about it being the smaller merger. I assume you are talking about either Accor/Fairmont or Wyndham/LA Quinta. I wasn't aware anyone was shopping Wyndham or LQ and not sure why anyone would A, want their points or ,B, want to stay there anyway so you must be talking about Accor/Fairmont. Honestly I didn't know they were shopped either.

I thought you were talking about Marriott and yes, lots of companies shop them. One company does their 4* properties, another does Courtyard along with several individual franchises, I'm fairly certain that another shops their 5* properties and yet a 4th company shops several individual franchises. So if you were talking about Marriott more information would be needed.

Points and reimbursement (Hello AMEX Plat 5X points) would be my primary motivators to do hotel shops, especially Marriott. Low pay and no points = no way.
@bgriffin It's Fairmont/Accor. OP added a comment above. Wyndham is shopped. Wyndham points used to be pretty decent. You could redeem 15,000 points for one night at any Wyndham property. While most of the Wyndham properties are average or lower end in the US, they have quite a bit of high-end hotels in Europe and Asia that made for an amazing redemption. Wyndham also has pretty decent rewards promotions from time to time. Last year they ran a promotion that offered a free night/15000 points just after two stays. They just devalued the points and switched to a three tier redemption a month ago (7500, 15000, or 30000).

Odd. Something must have been off with the forum. I scrolled through twice because they said they added it but I never saw where. Now the post shows up. Or maybe I'm blind?

It is a violation of our ICA and against the forum's rules to name a client and the MSC together. If you do a search for hotel shops, there are several MSC listed. Good luck!
