I am one of the recipients of SoCal's kindness -- care packages of FOOD when I was hungry, LOL!!!

And I tried to send thank you cards to every person who did so (and there are several!) -- but when you only know the person's forum moniker, and the address is illegible....well, there's just no way.

This is my public thank you to (names removed on requests received!) and several others!

And nobody's picking on me -- I just got defensive because, well, I screwed up. Admitted it, vented, tried to tell an entertaining story, and just got defensive.

I basically didn't work from June 1 last year until after Thanksgiving -- my car broke down, the people that charged me $1500 to fix it did NOT fix it, and it took the local mechanic months to find the problem (and me to come up with the funds) and fix it. In December, when I finally got back to work, I made $80 mystery shopping.

There were MONTHS I wouldn't have eaten without those care packages! Soups and beans and vienna sausage and crackers and rice and beans and pasta and more soup. Even CHOCOLATE! And packages of HOT CHOCOLATE MIX. And many, many other items, I can't even list them all. I was going without food two days a week before those packages arrived.

But I'm back to work NOW!!!

I live in a city as urban as they get..well almost. New York is worse. My friend who lives in Santa Monica, a well known and built up place, has only one company that can get cell service at her house and for surrounding blocks. My son at school in a city in Oregon found also only one cell company provided good cell service there. If you have a different brand you are out of luck but then if you have the brand that works there and travel 30 miles you might be out of luck. So I get it.
I am wondering if out in the boonies where you live and shop if you would be able to find a motel shop somewhere far out there where you are going or even an inexpensive motel or air b n b and schedule 2 days of shops for your long drive if that might help out with income vs expenses vs long drives in one day. My brother used to commute 150 miles to work and he ended up renting a room in someone's house for T-Thurs nights so he would only do the commute on Monday and Friday which was especially important in the long and icy winter.

Who's picking on Cease? What thread are you reading?

I read it that way the other day too. It seemed like cease was being told she could not be successful if she didn't use a phone much or if she didn't make a certain amount per hour or per mile. Today it's not reading that way and looks more like solutions were being presented for the problems she expressed. Maybe I was crabby the other day LOL

Oh I hear that, I drove 200 km to do my shops which took well over an hour per shop, that is usually 15 minutes because it was Easter Monday..only to find out that they are only to be done on either Saturday or Sunday, so not only did I do them perfectly, and took me 4x as long i lost the shops because I cant do them again as they were a reveal, and they were bonus-ed out, but I lost my expenses! Total loss of the day and loss of about 60$
What is with Easter Monday? I never heard of it until last friday when the tow truck driver told me the body shop probably would be closed Monday. Since then I have mentioned it to everyone I spoke with and no one else ever heard of Easter Monday either...including all those who work for my insurance company and rental car companies and the Body Shop which was open.
Sorry about your experience pirategirl. You lost not only $$ but you were probably frustrated during each of the shops as well since they were taking so long. So a bad day during the day which went to worse when you found it was useless.
In Canada, it is typical to have Good Friday and Easter Monday off. Stores are open now, but weren't when I was a kid. Easter Monday was like our Thanksgiving Monday... just a day to get home after the Sunday gathering.
I just put portable printer back on my wish list. You never need it until you do...

I have Verizon. My iPhone has plenty of memory. Apps don't work if there is no cellular data network available.

Have you ever been anywhere that your geoverify code comes back as "Null"?

I have.

Or a screen comes up that says "network error. Please try again later."

Or the blank screen just stares at you.

More times than I would like to admit. Some days are like that. How did the rest of the month go? I know you said you were booked solid.
Thanks for asking. The rotten horrid day set me back, wrecked my schedule, but I still managed OK. I ended up driving back the next working day and doing the shop. Totally out of pocket.

So, umm... was this like the mystery shopping version of the cute little book called Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day? Your story could be called ceasesmith and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Buncha Mystery Shopping Days.

Shop, I think I was trying to recall that title when I was typing "horrid day".

Thanks!

Thanks for the giggle.
