How much do you tip?

Macy's does pay the same, my sister worked for Saks and both are owned by Federated, along with other stores, so I know, although my sister made commission by selling upscale couture, and normal Macy's workers make not much above minimum wage with no commission. They also now do more work as they have cut their staff. I know the Manager, she knows my background, and we talk.
Not all are paid the same, however, commission workers have a quota and do bring in high buying customers.

I have a friend whose daughter got a summer job at Macy's when she was 19 years old. They happened to place her in the jewelry dept which turned out to be very lucrative for her as she got commissions on what was purchased. She did not have to have a following as she would have men who came to her counter all the time wanting to purchase a gift for an occasion for their wife and looking for help with purchase ideas. Some got returned or exchanged so the commission was reversed. The job was great for her and she was able to keep it all through college as part time and then worked there after college too. This was about 10 years ago when she started.

Not all Macy's have upscale jewelry, the big ones in cities do not so much in the subs. I wonder if they still pay jewelry commission, since they closed many stores throughout the country, and don't even have gift boxes any longer, the pretty red ones are gone. I used to have my daughters gifts wrapped free of change (beautifully) but not for the past three years. Online shopping has taken a toll on department stores.

Live consciously....
