CVS email. scam?

I don't think $30 a shop is exactly hitting the jackpot. No shoppers were even sent the big checks, they were just solicited via email to conduct some shops. BUT a huge red flag is that KSS would have sent an email job posting via Sassie, and also it would have been specific locations, not to mention the spoofed email addresses, etc. It is awful for these people, however.

What kind of help? The police don't have time to investigate small potatoes scammers. The onus is on the shopper who still believes they've hit the "jackpot". If it's too good to be true ...

The question I was responding to was whether anyone had received help resolving the scams I agree it is a miserable situation for those scammed however.

I definitely agree that they are not going to get any help from the police.

I was responding to your comment about the shopper believing they've hit the jackpot.

I got this from Barbara Cody today. I replied with some addresses for CVS and I got a response to go ahead and do them. It felt a little scammy, so I came here and did a search. Thanks for this thread.
Another scam, this time from "Donna Crabtree" with a manufactured email address.

How do I know it's a scam?

1. bad grammar (I learned this is one of the first signals scammers use to detect someone susceptible to scams--they answer emails with bad grammar)
2. email address does not match Coast-To-Coast Scheduling; To and From email addresses are the same
3. pay too high for this type of assignment
4. minimum spending fee too high (usually $10-$25 for this type of assignment)
5. no reason is given for the "bonus" and the amount is not specified

Answering this email with name and phone number might set you up for ID theft in addition to whatever you are convinced to spend on Ebay gift cards for the "shop."
I wonder if we all replied to these emails and played along, would we slow them down and maybe discourage the scammers? I have heard about people going this with junk calls.
I got a new one today from CTSS. Same story....CVS and buy gift cards

Well the plot thickens.

Today I received an email with the subject line of "Can Publish Everything - XXXXXXX" where XXXXXXX is a very short insecure password that I use only for MSC logins (most of which have been changed). The text of the email is:

@ wrote:

Hi, I know one of your passwords is: XXXXXX

Your computer was infected with my private malware, your browser wasn't updated / patched, in such case it's enough to just visit some website where my iframe is placed to get automatically infected, if you want to find out more - Google: "Drive-by exploit".

My malware gave me full access to all your accounts (see password above), full control over your computer and it also was possible to spy on you over your webcam.

I collected all your private data and I RECORDED YOU (through your webcam) SATISFYING YOURSELF!

After that I removed my malware to not leave any traces and this email was sent from some hacked server.

I can publish the video of you and all your private data on the whole web, social networks, over email of all contacts.

But you can stop me and only I can help you out in this situation.

The only way to stop me, is to pay exactly 800$ in bitcoin (BTC).

It's a very good offer, compared to all that horrible @#$%& that will happen if I publish everything!

You can easily buy bitcoin here: www.paxful.com , www.coinbase.com , or check for bitcoin ATM near you, or Google for other exchanger.
You can send the bitcoin directly to my wallet, or create your own wallet first here: www.login.blockchain.com/en/#/signup/ , then receive and send to mine.

My bitcoin wallet is: 1MnUgqSkToq3j7ozwjSh54m1WxWZ3Xqym6

Copy and paste my wallet, it's (cAsE-sEnSEtiVE)

You got 3 days time to pay.

As I got access to this email account, I will know if this email has already been read.
If you get this email multiple times, it's to make sure that you read it, my mailer script is configured like this and after payment you can ignore it.
After receiving the payment, I remove all your data and you can life your live in peace like before.

Next time update your browser before browsing the web!

Since the password is basically only used for MSCs (and was used for ISS), it obviously came from an MSC site. We know ISS was hacked. My computer and my email both use a much more secure password and my PC doesn't have a webcam. So I am not concerned. I suppose technically it's blackmail so I will be forwarding the email to someone as soon as I figure out who.

My guess is the person who sent this email and the person who has been attempting to scam known shopper emails probably bought the database from the same person. I don't use this email for any other purpose.
