Home Improvement Store Shops

As a homeowner, I absolutely love these shops! I do them for two different MSCs. I get to bring in my fixtures and ask real questions. I get tons of decorating ideas. The reimbursement is $5. It's not high, but it goes a long way. I've gotten hex keys, odd shaped batteries, spackle, hand tools, a hose (coupon), fertilizer and plants.

I love those too Honny. I have tons of electrical tape, spackle, holiday lights and plants. We bought our home 5 years ago and we got tons of stuff plus good advice on remodeling. I did a Home Depot shop where I really loved the design of the kitchen model they had on display. I was supposed to ask questions on remodeling and paint and it made perfect sense with what we had. Last December, we got the kitchen done and Home Depot did a great job. I have one in June and I am thinking about new plants. With some luck, maybe we will have a summer!
My shop yesterday was at a nursery. That was perfect because I need tomato cages. They would have eaten up my fee (and they were cheaper at Aldi's), so I bought a habanero plant.

I've never done the paint shop at HD. Do you get reimbursed for anything? I need paint.

It was a bonused shop last year in Oct for a flat fee of $22. A purchase/exterior pic was needed as proof. I did not get reimbursed for anything.
No reimbursement on the HD paint shop. A store photo or a small non-reimbursed purchase receipt for POV. Maybe Geoverify, can't remember.

I would do HD for a coupon. One MSC calls me frequently for a hardware shop except for when I need something!

@HonnyBrown Right! I know..You get all these offers when you don't need it. My daughter takes swim lessons and we go a long way every Sunday morning for that. I swear I see so many shops even on a Sunday when we don't have lessons. Today, not one shop!! Also, I don't know if it would be worth your time there are plenty of compare and contrast shops for HD and Lowes on a particular MSC for $22. I haven't done it since I used to do HD alone for $22.
Thanks Mum! I will have to find that MSC!

I guess I need to find the other companies that do HD also. The only one I am aware of is the one in the paint dept. Home Depot is just a mile and a half from my house. Usually the wait is at least 20 minutes to a half hour and then you are lucky and get someone who actually works at the store. I have never gotten anyone who is listed as the target on the targeted shops I see. Checked it out when I was getting paint for myself and no one from the company was ever there. For $22 I would try it but here they pay one digit. In fact most shops in larger retail stores are difficult due to the masses of customers needing assistance vs the number of personnel available in my large city.
I live half a mile from Home Depot and have done several paint shops. @sandyf yes, never have I seen or interacted with the target employee. It's funny how they are never there and yet they have a schedule as per the guidelines!
It is the same MSC that has the targeted paint company rep shop. I did one (the comparison shop), and it is a 10 foot pole shop as far as I'm concerned.

Do you at least get a "go fee" if the target isn't there?

The awful part of this shop is you have to wait for the target for at least 20 minutes or so I remember. Then, you shop the store rep whoever is available. The report was long and boring for $9 or 13 but I did some of those when they were bonused. Thanks @panama18 for the feedback on the comparison shop. I have never done one and won't attempt it in the future.
@Mum, you've nailed the problem with it. From now on, I'll shop the paint company rep, but the big box home improvement store employees? No way, no how. Not the orange people, not the blue people. Not this shop, not any shop. 10 foot pole if it involves the store employees.
The funniest thing happened last Friday. In my years of doing the paint shop, I have never shopped the target ( they are never there) and this fine Friday, I happened to meet my elusive target. He approached me within a second too and I didn't waste any time waiting.
I did a window treatment shop today. I got so many ideas for my living room; not just the window treatments, but, colors, cornices and run outs as well.

I had two hardware shops this weekend. I got a switch plate and a wallpaper widget. I also got advice on my lavender plant.

These are my fav too, the hardware franchise in my area has a great assortment of things you never knew existed. I shop through 2 msc and wait intil they are bonused $12-25 +$5 reimb
