Friendly Toast Restaurant Decline

I am absolutely tainted right now. My worst mystery shopping fear has finally came true. I am out $90 with a shop that was declined due to a relatively simple error.

When I saw the new phone requirements for this shop, they were listed in 1,2,3, format to ask about the menu, wait, and reservation, so I stupidly, or not so stupidly, assumed I had to choose one from the list to ask about. Nope, turns out I had to ask about all three.

I called the mystery shop company hoping there could be a rectification, such as calling again, but no. I suggested including "all" in the instructions to be more clear, or now that I think about it, put them in comma style instead. Anything. Just anything to make it more clear. If I were a newcomer, I would have never made this mistake. Ironically.

Please any advice, comments, thoughts, comforts? Every time I think about being out this much money for a day's meal, it makes me sick to my stomach.

That is a bummer, so there is no advice. You got toasted. That is enough for ninety bucks.

Well, Pepto for a day or Tryphala for awhile could be palatable advice.

I feel for you. I'm still peeved about a shop I did correctly and was denied payment. The server was friendly, but the service was slow, the food was not served in a timely manner, did not arrive at the proper temperature, and the manager that attempted to rectify the matter dropped off the food and immediately left without waiting to hear that the replacement entrée was still not correct. I received a 10/10 grade on the report, but then the restaurant denied payment by claiming that an employee had overheard someone in my party making "defamatory" comments about the staff. I asked the MSC what was supposedly said, but they were unable to get that information and, "unfortunately, there was nothing else they could do." Yeah, I have an audio recording that verifies that no "defamatory" comments were made. I'm only "out" $35, but I'd paid $70 for the meal. If it hadn't been a shop, I would have complained more forcefully at the restaurant and the whole meal would have been comped, so I really am out $70.
Many of us have had a similar experience. Did you at least get to order what you liked and enjoy the meal?
Our education is expensive sometimes.
Make the money up, with shops.
I wish the client (I assume it's the client) name hadn't been mentioned so you could tell us the MSC. It's asinine that they wouldn't let you redo the call portion. I've had to redo calls a time or two before it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

the msc is one who changed their name and doesn't have their own shop board.
I did a phone shop for them once for 5 bucks. The person who answered the phone was in such a rush. The background noise was deafening. I assumed the place was quite busy.

That is a lot money, I wish they would have worked with you. I'd be upset...with all the details, it can happen to anyone.

Hrm. Not sure I know of who that could be.

I'm guessing they sell different kinds of...toast.

That was a big clue. Not sure how much more obvious I could've been with out saying the name lol. I hope you find it. They currently have a name similar to a well known msc.
Well if the name of the restaurant is not actually "Friendly Toast" you can name the MSC since no clients have been named. I don't really care, I am signed up with so many companies that I stay plenty busy and I don't think that client is in my area anyway.
This is a very small casual dining chain located accross two New England states. The name is indeed Friendly Toast. I love the eatery but even before this change it was a shop I rarely took because the client had a lot of very specific requirements, including demanding a manager interaction at a casual eatery where there would normally not be a table touch. (The shop is not approved without the manager's name.) This is an excellent MSC that I've done many shops with, but I agree that it makes no sense that you couldn't redo the call.
I found The Friendly Toast chain of five, yes, five restaurants. An interesting menu, including the Impossible Burger. If I ever see one, I will stop.
