5 Guys Milkshake

I rarely do these shops but took one for tonight. I assumed it included a milkshake because the reimbursement says 17.75 rather than the typical 12.75. However, the CPI says “no” for the milkshake.

Has anyone ever done a 17.75 & not need to purchase a milkshake?

That sounds like an error. I would write the help desk but you may not get an answer in time. Can you reschedule it until you get a reply?

ASK Questions! Get it in writing? Get it on recording in case they try not to pay. The more information you have the higher your chances of getting your money. Don't do it until you've gotten the clarification. Email and/or call until you get them on the line. Just like they don't trust us. Don't trust them. If it didn't happen in writing or be recording you have nothing to back you up. Plus if it's done incorrectly you will NOT get paid! At the end of the day it's all about the MONEY! Some are doing it for fun. They have other ways they get money coming in from parents, supplemental income, kids, or programs. So they don't care about making a profit. But if you are one who is in this to make a profit. I would also suggest get clarification, get names, get it in writing, get recordings, do the job properly so you will get your money. I do this to get paid something extra and not for fun. I can think of many things I can do for fun and this is NOT one of them.

I agree. It's an error. If the reimbursement is $17.75, you have to buy a milkshake.

I did one of those jobs recently. It ssid nothing about buying a milkshake, but the reimbursement was $17.75. I bought a milkshake since I figured that's why the reimbursement was $17.75 and not $12.75. The shop was approved. I have not gotten paid yet, so I am hoping that they actually reimburse the $17.75.
Was one milkshake $17?? or two for $17 and change? Was it any good? For $17 it should come with flakes of gold like Goldschlagger
Yes, I feel like it’s a mistake— I’ve only ever seen the 17.75 reimbursements on shops where a milkshake is required. I emailed the help desk but have not heard back. I think I’ll just hold off another hour or so and then reschedule.

It’s just annoying!
If they list 2 reimbursements, 12.75 for purchase 1, 5.00 for purchase 2, then you will be reimbursed.

From what I have seen, if they need to make sure that the shop is filled, they sometimes drop the requirement but leave it as an optional purchase by retaining the reimbursement.

Is it the late shop, just before closing? I think that one pays more, with no milkshake.
Just wondering, was the $17.75 on the CPI, or just the job board? If that amount and "no milkshake" is on the CPI, save a copy. If it were me and I didn't hear back from the help desk, I would do the shop, without purchasing a shake.

The base fee is higher for late night. Once bonuses start, the fees balance out across the board.

Here in Canada it is so much more expensive.

I've been doing the 5 Guys for 6 months, and this is the first ever I got a shop with a milkshake to be approved. it was heavily bonused too so I was so happy. The price is usually $14 it is $19 reimbursement includes the milkshake.

So happy ironically, the last shop I did I payed out of pocket for a milkshake. It has to say YES to CPI to be valid. Good luck!
I got a Five Guys home delivery shop. This would be my first fast food shop. Also, I have never had a Five Guys burger. Any tips or advice from the experienced shoppers? I would hate my first shop to be rejected.
I had this happen once. They reimbursed me only for the $12.75. I didn't keep a copy of the CPI and didn't bother to fight it.
Reading all these posts about Five Guys shops being rejected, I canceled my shop. The other reason for my cancellation was that I wasn't getting any straight answers for the queries I emailed. I got a partial response with no clarity on other questions. This was my first assigned shop for FF. I suppose I will never be doing a FF shop.
The help desk emailed back and said to “carefully read the CPI” and if it says “yes” for milkshake, they reimburse up to $5.00 for it but if “no,” than they only reimburse up to 12.75 for food.

So basically, there is no way to know ahead of time if you’re signing up for a milkshake shop or not, even if it shows 17.75 reimbursement.
Megs, are you sure your CPI says no for a milkshake? Mine is in red and says yes. Right below it is stated “no” but that is for coupons. If it really says no, I guess the good news is that you can order a more expensive hamburger and be fully reimbursed. Either way be sure to save the CPI as a screen capture just in case.
The milkshake cost 5.00 and is really good.....really good, it will say get milkshake, if not 17.75 sounds like a high reimbursement.

Right. The job board may show an "up to" amount. If, on the CPI, a shake is not required, reimbursement will be only $12.75.
Usually, this is how it works but I've had one job that was not entered into the system properly exactly as Megs7521 described. I even got the same email response from the help desk. It was a typo with the shopper having to guess what was mistyped, the reimbursement or milkshake question. In my case, it was the reimbursement amount. The only way to be safe would be to buy the milkshake and accept that you might be out $5+. The shakes taste great but are way more than $5 here and the shop is too much food so I end up throwing it away after a sip or two.

Do not overthink this. If the CPI has the $5 reimbursement for the second purchase, then it should also say Yes for the required milkshake purchase. The $17.75 maximum reimbursement is subject to the additional milkshake requirement. Sometimes they modify a listing to remove the milkshake but forget to modify the maximum reimbursement. The CPI will clearly show the fee and the required first purchase, in most areas it is now $12.75 maximum.

The golden rule is to check your CPI and guidelines just before the shop. Not 24 hours before, not when you assigned the shop, but just beforehand. Most MSCs warn you to check for updates just before performing a shop as they are subject to changes after being assigned.

The listing showed a 17.75 reimbursement but then when I accepted the shop, the CPI broke it down a little more to say “12.75 for food purchase and 5.00 for milkshake if required.” As I continued to read, it said “milkshake required? No.” in red.

I did the shop tonight and did not order a shake. Not a huge deal overall, I took the shop because I’ve been wanting a burger. It was just confusing at first because I’ve never seen that initial 17.75 and then no required milkshake before.
I have been doing these shops sporadically - just got tired of burgers (I have other burger shops). I did one shop back in January and noticed the price increase from my last shop. Today, I did a shop and again - another price increase. I order the same meal every time. Reimbursement is stuck at $12.75. I only do these shops for a bonus. If they don't raise the reimbursement, I will need to raise that bonus again.
You can get a shop that pays for a milkshake but if the location does not sell milkshakes, then it becomes a regular non-milkshake shop. One location i go to allots for milkshakes but they don't sell it.
I have had a milkshake shop turned down because I DID NOT GET A DRINK also. Read the Invoice sheet (CPI) and the guide closely. I hated to lose the incentive for this shop. 200 mile drive and did not get paid.
