Jiffy Lube

Need to get an oil change. What happened to Jiffy Lube shops? Have not seen them for a couple of months.

There around, on the board here last time I looked, but taking forever to schedule.

They're still around. They don't reimburse the full cost of synthetic oil, though, so it's not really worth it if you treat your car to the better stuff.

You can get Synthetic oil and pay the difference, and my Jiffy Lube has a wash for 16.99 which is included, so still a savings.

I just saw a Jiffy Lube for August. They disappear fast.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
They are definitely all over the place.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.

Yep, but when paying the difference is almost as much as getting it done with a coupon, it's not worth the report. They really ought to cover the full service -- it's not as if the oil they're using actually COSTS what they charge.

iShop123, I commiserate with you. I have a 4 cylinder car that apparently only uses synthetic (full or semi) so I can’t use conventional. I just performed a Jiffy Lube Shop with a $13 off coupon and I will still end up paying about $20 AFTER being reimbursed $40 for my report.

I will probably continue to perform these shops for my other vehicles when they need oil changes, but I think I’ve seen lower prices -with coupons- for oil changes for my car that requires synthetic so I will probably get it serviced elsewhere and not have to complete a report.
I am not quite sure what your beef is. Four quarts of synthetic oil alone is almost $30.
I called the (sort of) new MSC on Tuesday and left a message asking if I could get synthetic and pay the difference. But they have not called me back yet. Also it shows only $5 pay but does not say the reimbursement. Does anyone know?
I just noticed that there are now TONS of JL shops on a new (to them) MSC's board. Think similar automotive service shops...
I had just done a JL shop last month. And I am really P.O. ed about it. ( Oh and that does not mean Post Office.) Not only did they say that the coupon was invalid they also left my radiator cap partial off come close to costing me a motor for my vehicle.

Post removed as it violates the Forum guideline which states, "Do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies". Additionally, it is an ICA violation to name both the MSC and client.

I can wait 87 days for $50.

It takes that long no matter which MSC you do it for. I just figure that with 3 vehicles I can do it once a month if there is enough mileage on them. this stretching out the time between changes is really a pain.

Around here JL has such a poor reputation. That radiator cap issue is a known problem. Another one is not tightening the drain plug all the way. Both potentially resulting in a blown motor.
I just signed up for one that says that, but once assigned, the guidelines say it reimburses up to $45.

MaritzCX has oil changes available, if anyone is interested in getting their oil changed!

The other place that does oil change shops reimburses up to $60, and most of them only charge $40 to $50 for semi-synthetic. Jiffy Lube charges $75 for semi-synthetic.
